My first dress Patek?
This is my first post here, as I am more active in the AP, Lange and Panerai
sections. My reason for this thread is to try and narrow down the
perfect first dress piece. I have followed Patek Philippe and browsed
this section for quite a while. I truly appreciate the incredible works
of art produced and would love to possibly purchase my first soon. I
have numerous sporty pieces from an Audemars Piguet Grand Prix to a
Panerai 127.. however, I feel it's the right time to move away from
"sporty" and into "dressy". I have gone back and forth between Patek and
Lange.. and am not quite sure which brand to start with for my first
dress piece.
A few requirements to help narrow the search: I
prefer a piece other than an Ellipse, Gondolo, Aquanaut or Nautilus as I
am more interested in a complicated dress piece. I prefer a larger
watch as my usual daily's are anywhere from 42-47mm. In terms of
precious metal I prefer RG but will consider YG and WG. So, I come to
you Patek experts in search for my possible first. I am looking forward
to hearing your feedback and contributing in the future to this section.
P.S. (I was able to try on two 5146's today (YG and WG).. beautiful pieces.. wish I could see it in Rose) How does it look?

Regards,
Jared

THe 5146 is one of my favorite watches of all time, and was what lured me to Patek over 10 years ago. I really like the slate dial so and prefer white gold or platinum. I would go with the 5146P. Granted I have not seen a rose gold version.

IMHO the 5205G is the best Patek to make the transition from oversized sport watch to complicated "dress" watch. The case is big by Patek standards (40.5mm) and the look is clean yet contemporary. In person it is an absolute stunner, I only say in person ...
Here's my choice..

and I prefer it over the Lange AC . You will appreciate the size & complication after the APs & Panerais and from your WS it seems to fit you well. The folding buckle is an added bonus IMO. A watch for any occasion IMO. cheers fernando...
