this happened after i -literally - pushed a door shut with a very swift movement. that was about two weeks after i picked up the watch from the AD. it is now with PP and my AD tells me that they are waiting for a cost estimate!!!??????????? i am getting v...

G Forces and watches don't mix well... Did you know what the number one reason is for hands falling off?

 By: patrick_y : September 14th, 2021-20:00
Applauding! Applause will cause hands to fall off watches! Hopefully Patek Philippe fixes this for you quickly and at no cost or a very nominal cost!

interesting....my AD told me never to play golf or tennis with any of my PPs. but slamming a door shut ........

i am a bit disappointed and wondering whether those delicate watches are right for my life style after all.

With all do respect to your AD, it's more likely that your AD is probably just repeating something they heard...

 By: patrick_y : September 14th, 2021-22:03
They're not examining nor processing the root of the problem. Their brain hasn't actually processed what the problem is. They're just repeating something they heard. The root of the problem is inertia and momentum. When something is in motion, it wants to...

It's probably the watch and not you...

 By: patrick_y : September 15th, 2021-18:28
But my point was that the AD dealer probably didn't know anything. Was probably just repeating things he had heard before. We just need to be conscious about how the watch perceives things. Empathy for the watch! See things from the watch's perspective. A...

+1!

Really?

 By: MTR : September 14th, 2021-21:50
Added up I have applauded whole … days of my life with different watches (PCs and MR among them) and I never had a problem like this… 👏👏👏👏 😊 Best Thomas

It's a problem that watch companies are aware about. And they try to avoid the problem.

 By: patrick_y : September 14th, 2021-21:56
Even though they don't really mention it very often. Since it portrays their watches as weak. And if a brand mentions it, then consumers (who make incorrect assumptions) will assume that the problem is limited to that brand, and choose another brand. But ...

Is this really a completely new and unworn watch?

 By: MTR : September 14th, 2021-21:53
If so then this is a strange … accident. And an annoying one. I am sure they will fix this without any costs. They simple have to. Please keep us posted! All the best Thomas

Good question. Good to see we're not making too many assumptions.

 By: patrick_y : September 14th, 2021-22:12
We assume our poster is accurate and relaying reliable information (pushing a door shut with a swift movement). But every client regardless if they are right or wrong, never thinks they're in the wrong. Plus, we assume that he closed a normal door. Who kn...

Seems like to me that the dial was probably not fixed in properly then.

 By: patrick_y : September 15th, 2021-18:08
Which does happen every now and then.

Maybe…

 By: MTR : September 15th, 2021-21:00
Sorry, but for me this is totally unacceptable in this price range.

Ok. So that’s really annoying!

 By: MTR : September 15th, 2021-20:59
Is there any news from Patek yet?

i'm sorry but under no circumstances is that normal.

 By: Dchang81 : September 14th, 2021-22:10
things happen but to normalize that the user is at fault in any way for this.....

I can't believe this happens

 By: anaroku : September 15th, 2021-06:05

me neither

 By: Peter : September 15th, 2021-08:46

Sorry to hear about this unfortunate incidence !

 By: GLau : September 15th, 2021-07:13
Most importantly it seems that the enamel dial is fine and not damaged. Trust that Patek will make it right for you. Please keep us posted.

They need to solve it without any costs

 By: Watchonthewrists : September 15th, 2021-08:26

I cant believe it Peter!!! How many watches is that now?

 By: Patekphilippecollector : September 15th, 2021-08:42
I think you to get the 5170P to grind to a halt 🙈🙈😂😂😂

Yes if I was Patek I would either hire you to

 By: Patekphilippecollector : September 16th, 2021-14:32
Test the break point of watches or suggest you stick to Tudor!!!

We should do a poll….you would definately win!!

 By: Patekphilippecollector : September 17th, 2021-07:15

Wait a “minute”…no pun intended

 By: Patekfinity : September 15th, 2021-18:27
What happened to the minute hand? Only see the hour hand in the dial. Did it disappear under the cloisonné disk? Wow…never imagined that would happen. I guess I shouldn’t wear my watches when I bike in the country as well…too many bumpy roads.

This is completely unacceptable.

 By: Rhyzen : September 16th, 2021-00:56
Hopefully this is an anomaly, and Patek will right this wrong swiftly. Do keep us posted!
