Wonderful Gondolos

Question to the PP connoisseurs here:

The 5200 is a great timepiece but seems to have been unloved by the market a bit. It’s discontinued but there are still many pieces with the ADs I come across in Europe and the US.

Why is that? Is it limited demand given preference for conventional round pieces? Is it a supply and overproduction problem like that is said for the 5960s? If this 8 day movement were in a steel round case, I bet people would queue up for it

I’d be curious to hear what you all think and what the future prospects are for this model from a collectability perspective.
Not putting down the watch at all...I actually own one!

Thoughts?

but it really shows how well designed the original 5100 was and I think the yellow gold is a very desirable version. Many thanks for sharing. CC

Seeing both watches side by side highlight the subtle and yet dramatic evolution of patek's 10day-movement. From the old school 5100 manta to the fresh 5200 gondolo, we see how Patek strive a create a niche in timepiece identity that evokes strength in ch...

These are underrated models. I'm sure most collectors prefer round cases but the art deco styling and the wonderful movement are amazing in the flesh. I'm fortunate to own a white dial 5200 and I enjoy it thoroughly. The blackened hands are an amazing tou...
