Trip to Egypt (with Aquanaut)

Apr 28, 2022,20:24 PM

So we traveled to Egypt (from California) a couple of weeks ago on a 2 week trip, privately, not with a tour group. You might need a magnifier to see my watch, and my wife is wearing her Rolex (not visible). So I completely understand if MODs must move this; I could not find a travel discussion and I doubt this photo is good enough for Photography.

This is Abu Simbel, and if you watch the newest (released last month) Death on the Nile movie, you will see this very scene.

This may be common knowledge, but tourism in Egypt is slowly picking up but you can see from my photo how vacant this very popular site was. There were some tour groups like Viking, but not so many.  And despite warnings, we wore nice watches all over, without a problem. YMMV.

Yeah, I insure my watches and wear them. However, it occurs to me that if someone stole my Patek, insurance might not pay the current replacement value...(*_*)

Impressive,

Probably I’m one of the peasants back then only to admire in awe from afar. I always love to see ancient wonders and hopefully some day to visit Egypt too. Enjoy your vacation, glad to see and hear you feel safe.

I hope you get a chance to visit...

right now is a great time IMO to travel if you feel protected against Covid. Airlines required PCR Covid test results and masks, but that was a couple weeks ago and these things change quickly. Most people we saw in Egypt wore or carried masks.

Look at your double breasted jacket! Very dapper!

Did you need to get there by boat, just like what depicted in the latest movie of Death on the Nile? Besides, can tourists really go up to the shoulder of statues? Enjoy the wonderful journey! Cheers, Henry
