I've got a couple ideas for you!

I share your appreciation of the 3940 (though I've never owned one) and I also share your desire for, and difficulty in paying for, a 3970. So here are two suggestions.

The first one I own and love: a 5110 worldtime. I prefer the G, but it's great in every metal.

The second is one I've coveted for a long time, but never made the leap for: the 5100. Also great in any metal, though I lean towards the J...

Both great examples of Patek's classicism, and both available in the price range you might be willing to stomach!

Thoughts on my next PP?

While the 3940 is undoubtedly one of my favorites, I’m starting to look for my next time piece. I’d love to get a 3970, be it’s a little out of my price range. I also like the 5960, which may end up being a collectible vintage in the years ahead. What are...

You have such a broad range to choose from with Patek, at any level of its catalog, that without further input it's almost impossible to advise...but let me give you what's always a good suggestion with Patek in a reasonable price range: a Worldtimer!

The current generation (5230G and R) is exquisitely elegant and still broadly available at ADs with little to no effort. The earlier modern iterations, 5110 and 5130, which are also big favorites of our forum, are also relatively a bargain on the secondar...

The 5930G is also high on my list…….My quandary (probably like others here) is whether or not to get a watch that is purely collectible or one that I can enjoy wearing regularly. I love the 3940, but it’s obviously not something I wear very often. I also ...

I owned a 5960a for a while, and I definitely wore it.

There's no big quandary for me, though. I'm not a big enough collector to own something *purely* for collectability's sake. If I'm not comfortable wearing it, *even if* I love it collectability-wise, I won't keep it for long.

How about the

The 5131 is absolutely amazing…..

But just a bit out of my price range. My first priority for a watch is beauty and style. I have to love the “look and feel”…..After that I consider if it is something that I would wear regularly or just on special occasions. The 3940 is a watch that looks...

I have a few PP’s and love them all…

But this one seems to get the most wrist time. The 5050P. Love the dial layout, apertures layout and the sweep second hand. Beefier than the 3940 which is more elegant IMHO. This one feels more like a daily wearer and just ticks a lot of my. It is also a ...

As a owner of a 3940 and a 3970..

I think both are very satisfying to wear. But since you already have a perpetual calendar, instead of the 3970 maybe you could find a manual Patek chronograph. Easier on budget and you won’t have to deal with keeping the date correct. The world timers are...

5960 is on my short list

I wasn’t a fan of the 5960 when it was first released, but I’ve since become a fan.
