I am partial to the 5905P, had the same dilemma and decided at the end of the day I’ll take a Patek AC over a Lange PC. just bought one today, see my other post!

This or that?

So this combat is a little strange. Normally you would compare the datograph with the 5270, not the 5905. But with discounts the datograph is actually not that far apart. At least I think the comparison is realistic. 5270P is out of reach for me, but ther...

In this case the Patek .

 By: ZSHSZ : November 9th, 2019-23:16
The Dato might be a perpetual but all the indications are cramped and hard to read at a glance , vs. the Patek which is “just” an annual calendar but you can easily read everything, and I’m not even mentioning value retention... But all it matters which o...

Terrific and cool photos. Love the DP [nt]

Here there is no contest. Dato Perpetual.

 By: emcquillan : November 9th, 2019-23:03
IMO Dial win Chrono win Perpetual over annual win Movement win in a first round knockout 5270 is a beauty.

Agreed

 By: Thomahof : November 9th, 2019-23:14
But don't forget the 5905 case. Definitively better than the Lange.

You know that's a good point. If I have one improvement I'd like to see with Lange

 By: emcquillan : November 10th, 2019-08:00
it's to see them make their own cases with some slightly more refined options. I like their masculine cases, but with some refinements they can be more ergonomic, and in some cases when the watch calls for it more elegant as well.

Dato for sure by a mile.

I don't like also the chrono register of the 5905. Aris

5-1 for this

 By: Thomahof : November 9th, 2019-23:30
But what about that concave bezel? The value retention? The legibility? And the "Patek" on the dial?

Don’t care about the Patek on the dial but I understand your concern about value retention

 By: dedestexhes : November 10th, 2019-00:21
However not sure that this specific Patek holds its value like some other ones. Horologicaly I always would take the Lange. Design wise it is a very personal choice. I agree though that the Lange’s dial is not top concerning legibility. Dirk

Dato if you're horologically interested...

PP is more value safe

The datograph! [nt]

Datograph for me

 By: Saxon : November 10th, 2019-00:30
More discrete, I like the white gold - grey dial combo with silver subdials. And the movement is to die for.

Bothe great

To me fill different needs... one is a complicated elegant piece and the other a sporty elegant piece. Both in case execution, dial execution, movement execution... really depends on what best suits lifestyle and complements the existing inventory the mos...

A secret dream that makes Lange the sporty one:

Picture from Andreas. Does anybody know if this bracelet also fits the updated Datograph? ...

Thanks Keks

I always value your input 😀

Given the dial design...

 By: trs : November 10th, 2019-00:57
I just wouldn't wear the Lange PCC a lot. It looks a little too old-fashioned and cluttered in my eyes. In contrast I really like the Patek ACC and prefer the chrono function over the 24h / moonphase subdial on most other Patek ACs. If the 5905 was a litt...

Both are beautiful and great in their own style

 By: charcoal6666collector : November 10th, 2019-02:01
Patek is housing annual calendar while Lange is using a perpetual calendar this time. Both have chronographs on top of that.

Back shots?

 By: gregnascimento : November 10th, 2019-04:43
mIght suggest including back shots of each to help those undecided....

No point I think

 By: Thomahof : November 10th, 2019-07:23
On the backside, the Lange crushes the Patek. Most of the movement on the Patek is also hidden behind the large rotor. Thomas

Agree on Movement Comparison

 By: gregnascimento : November 10th, 2019-08:47
On backside ALS Dato is a clear winner vs the 5905 movement. Clarity of dial I would give to 5905 as Dato is slightly too busy for my taste compared to 5905. Added 1815 Chrono first and then 5905 to my collection at later time which allows the best of bot...

Best of both worlds!

 By: Thomahof : November 10th, 2019-10:53
Congratulations on your collection! I have had a 1815 chronograph myself, but long gone unfortunately... Thomas

Sorry to hear

 By: gregnascimento : November 10th, 2019-11:39
What did you move onto after the 1815 chronograph?

I have Lange/Patek ambiguity!

 By: Thomahof : November 10th, 2019-12:50
...

To me, this is hardly a contest. Datograph Perpetual by a mile.

 By: Rhyzen : November 10th, 2019-05:18
Especially in this dial and metal combination. For the Patek, I very much prefer how the 5960 look instead.

Does it work as a daily wearer?

 By: Thomahof : November 10th, 2019-07:24
Not to top heavy?

The Datograph

 By: seehoo : November 10th, 2019-06:26
At first glance...the dial may look cluttered. But once you get to understand the intricacy,it’s not hard to read. Btw,I’m partial too coz I own one.

This...

 By: pfang56 : November 10th, 2019-06:43
Manual wind, perpetual, value for money, finishing, makes the Lange a winner in my eyes. Especially if you are thinking 5270p down the road the 5905 becomes redundant at some point... Peter

Good point!

 By: Thomahof : November 10th, 2019-07:20
For me a Dato on bracelet 5270P might be my ultimate exit collection. Thomas

The Datagraph is a sight to behold

 By: watch-er : November 10th, 2019-08:39
but wears very big, is very top heavy and is very hard to read the calendar sub dials. For an all around wearable watch the PP wins by a wide margin. From a purely mechanical and movement basis the Datagraph is far more spectacular than this PP. This PP i...

luv it...too good :) [nt]

Don't you think the moon phase in this Dato PC is proportionally much too small?

 By: Grisar : November 11th, 2019-12:46
It's a no go for my taste. The right chronograph from Lange is the discontinued original Datograph without power reserve from my very humble opinion. Proportion is the most important criterium for me when choosing a watch.

I think the PR is only on the tourbillion model.

 By: watch-er : December 5th, 2019-16:25
This model is still in production. Has the latest dial.

As a hard core PP collector , the decision is simple
