The Nautilus Genève auction analysis
Nov 13, 2018,14:27 PM
Craziness. Even as a die hard fan of the Nautilus I can not explain just what has happened over the last few days.
The original 3700 in all guises had exploded, it has becone “Daytonafied”
Even the unpopular 3700 s/g has tripled in value
If it was just one auction one could say freak results, but in all four auctions..
The Nautilus is a fantastic watch in my opinion, but even I find the craziest prices being paid hard to fathom
Even the “unpopular “ 3710 broke records
Whilst the 5726 which is supposed to be the least well desirable went over list
The 3712, 3700 with box and papers are definitely in vintage Daytona madness territory
I’m happy indeed very happy for those that own those pieces, but I wonder where watch collectors are headed
Is it all about the fashion? The fashion is very much sports watch.
I hope sincerely that other great pieces, just don’t die in this craze.
Here is a summary of all the Nautilus sold
