I think I share your emotions on the Patek WTs

I’ve never owned one, but have toyed with the idea of owning one for a long time. There is a certain charm with World Timers which I cannot explain, but the phrase “time is of the essence” usually comes to mind. The feeling of knowing you could easily tell the time in different parts of the globe just by scrutinizing your wrist is wonderful. I also think that Patek does the best world timers (no offense to other brands). I used to dislike the crown guards on the 5110 and 5130 references, but have learnt to appreciate it over time.

The most popular Patek on here is...

The World Time, in any iteration. It seems the most widely represented and posted about Patek is the world time, whether it be a white gold 5130 or an application piece with enamel, the world time seems to be best represented. I just recently sold my 5130...

Yes sir, the 5130/1G on bracelet is what I’m considering!

Also, I just edited my post above with some substantial additional information as to my calculus on the world time!

That is a very relevant consideration.

Then there are the differences in handsets, in the guilloche at the center, and in the fonts on the dial. What one likes best is up to personal preferences. However, it would be interesting to hear if there are perceived differences in the quality of the ...

All three are of course very modern references, but the main difference for me is the much more formal/dressy case of the 5230 with respect to the earlier versions.

Frankly, it took me a while to "accept" the 5230...but after trying on both the R and G dozens of times (virtually any AD has it readily available), now I'm slowly getting to like it ;-) My favorite remains the 5130, a tad larger (and I would say more rel...

Thanks for your thoughts.

Personally, I like the hands of the 5110 the best, but otherwise might slightly prefer the 5130... It is a close call. Not convinced of the guilloche style of the 5230 - but that's just me. Although as you say further exposure might help (it often does!)....

Indeed! [nt]

magical 🧙‍♂️ about having 24 time zones on a mechanical watch ! For me, the enamel map makes it top notch ! ...

I agree on 5130....i owned sold and bought it twice!! I dont think WT are actually the favourite if judge by the fact that there is never a waiting list and you can generally

Get both metals without any wait at an AD...however its a wonderful quirky complication. Perhaps its popular on this sight only because there are only so many photographs one get get excited over the same boring quasi blue dial Nautilus

The WT was the first Patek that captured my attention.

I was close to buying one, a 5110G, many many years ago. Maybe four years ago I happened upon the 5130G on the bracelet and was very close to pulling the trigger (it was used, but like new, from a dealer in Japan and the exchange rate was very very strong...
