You mention 2 additional important factors in addition to the aesthetic value (or not) of having co-branding.
One, exclusivity. Take 5711/1A, relatively (to demand) low productions then add Tiffany" and it is far more exclusive. An extreme example of this in vintage is 2499 made in 349 examples over 35 years. Add "Cartier" and !!!!!!! Many collectors want something that sets their watch apart and makes it highly limited or unique.
Two, a close association with Tiffany or a particular sales person there; or fond memories of the specific purchase at Tiffany (maybe having been purchased on a fabulous vacation, or in celebration of something.) Then you seeTiffany on the dial and that warm feeling returns.
So, I wholeheartedly agree with you!
