Thanks for commenting, HobbyCentric. I don't have Thierry's quote that you are referring to, but the goal of this research was an overall improvement of the sound experience, which definitely includes making the chiming more audible.

Dec 14, 2021,14:18 PM

My understanding is that while the MRs from the current catalog (e.g., the 5178) are no longer clearly audible at a 10-meter distance, quite remarkably the sound of this new 5750P fades away only at 60 meters. Obviously, one way to view it is that a better/stronger chiming, with all the engineering that went into realizing it, also implies that the sound will be less "personal" ;-)

Enjoy.

Patek's 2021 Advanced Research Ref. 5750P is LIVE!

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-08:00
Dear Friends and Enthusiasts, another big day for Patek is here! It's my big pleasure to introduce to you Reference 5750P, the latest entry of Patek's 2021 Collection, coming from no less than the Advanced Research department! This stunning new release, a...

Woo……

Tell me the price and let me give up the idea forever🤪

Hmmm…

 By: Watches&Men : December 14th, 2021-09:12
It’s likely to be less than the $5mil+ paid for a certain blue dial recently 🤣

Definitely! ;-))

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-09:40

I saw that it’s priced at CHF$590,000

 By: BigAppleBill : December 14th, 2021-09:18
Or to put that in perspective, the person who bought the Tiffany 5711 at the recent Phillips auction could have purchased approximately 10 of these instead.

That's correct Shun, this model is limited to 15 pieces only, and expectedly the interest has been extremely high, so they are *very* unlikely to be found at this time ;-)

 By: FabR : December 17th, 2021-00:39
I wouldn't be surprised, however, if a new model containing the latest advances that characterize the 5750 will make it into the regular catalog one day, so more collectors might have access to it ;-) Enjoy.

Absolutely👍Cheers.

Looks suprisingly different...

 By: George Gently : December 14th, 2021-08:13
On first impression I like it. Thanks in advance Fabrizio, for keeping us up to date!

Superb engineering

 By: VinnieD : December 14th, 2021-08:32
The video is very well made to explain the technical aspects. On the aesthetics, I have some reservation but it is a great end of year release for sure

An amazing innovation!

By: Time to watch : December 14th, 2021-08:47
This is Patek at its best. Any more releases today? 😉

Thank you for your report 🙏🏼

By: Time to watch : December 14th, 2021-09:13
The first of all the online sites I visit to break this incredible news!

You are too kind sir 🙏🏼

Thanks FabR! You're fabulous!

;-)))

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-20:54

What an absolute stunner

 By: CGJ0 : December 14th, 2021-10:09

Thanks for the report Fab !

 By: GLau : December 14th, 2021-10:09
Interesting dial and movement indeed ! This advance design carries a futuristic look 👀👍

Very, very interesting, Fab! thank you for posting....

 By: ChristianDK : December 14th, 2021-10:29
There is still a lot to digest and understand but I read the description below and it sounds like Patek have really been putting their minds to it. Im at work and I will have to revisit your post. This is what we want to see from the power house that is P...

Many thanks for your comments my friend, indeed an impressive result on the technical/research level for this piece, which I believe had been in the works for three years.

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-11:09
And indeed, lots to digest also on the aesthetic level -- an original design which, as you say, at the same time is still remarkably *very* Patek! Cheers.

Marvellous watch

 By: toxly347 : December 14th, 2021-10:30
The unusual design is very much to my liking. I am puzzled that Patek announce a watch like this as an Advanced Research limited edition of 15 pieces. I would imagine there will be quite a few more than 15 seriously interested collectors willing to buy on...

Thanks for chiming in. It's a "niche" watch which is obviously attracting lots of attention among the most sophisticated collectors, so I'm also assuming that quite a bit more than 15 people will request it...

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-11:15
However, I wouldn't be surprised if we will find this new movement in future offerings of Patek's regular catalog (production will always be very limited in numbers though, as is the case with all minute repeaters ;-) Cheers.

Many thanks my friend, indeed a totally lovely and innovative piece (which I'm still studying this morning before going to work with no sleep at all -- this is just too good of a watch to delay learning about it! ;-))

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-11:21
And yes, the orange strap with black stitches is a really attractive extra touch in my view as well --- but having confirmation from our resident "Strap Master" always feels good! ;-)) Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing

So where can we hear this beauty sing, the video just showed assembly?

Stunning!

Nice watch, but honestly Fabrizio...

 By: penfriend : December 14th, 2021-11:57
Advanced Research - this is marketing bull....t There is basic research and applied research as the two accepted aspects in research. As if PP believes that their invention cannot speak for itself - what a pity, I would be ashamed to read that on my caseb...

I am guessing this is Patek's answer to the AP Supersonniere. While I like the modern dial design, the rotating second disc in particular too, I am a little undecided about whether the chime should be super loud.

 By: HobbyCentric : December 14th, 2021-13:50
After all the beauty of the minute repeater was that it was to sound sufficiently audibly to the wearer for it to be a discrete and personal experience ... I recall Thierry Stern said that once of the loudness of the chime when asked once before

Thanks for commenting, HobbyCentric. I don't have Thierry's quote that you are referring to, but the goal of this research was an overall improvement of the sound experience, which definitely includes making the chiming more audible.

Patek Philippe showcasing this beautifully conceived horological masterpiece.

Thoughtful and progressive development…

It’s a formula that clearly works.

Thanks Fab!

Interesting piece and direction for Patek.

Marvellous engineering as expected however..

 By: Centurionone : December 14th, 2021-14:53
I struggle reading the time... am I alone ?

Beautiful watch

 By: TeutonicCarFan : December 14th, 2021-15:00
I like the dial and rotor treatment. Very fitting for an advanced research piece. Also nice to be looking at a proper patek again. Thanks for the updates! - Kevin

Beautiful- thanks Fab!

Wonderful info and thanks so much for all the insights and other info you work so hard to bring to our membership 😊

Love it!

 By: Krinck : December 14th, 2021-16:39
I really enjoy the esthetics of this watch, especially the movement of the smaller wheel on the dial. I’d prefer a black strap on it though, but that’s easily fixed.

Very cool, but it's a shame...

 By: mdg : December 14th, 2021-16:39
...that the dial design makes the hands do difficult to see.

;-))

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-18:45

Not really...

 By: mdg : December 15th, 2021-00:36
...but if you're going to do such a poor job on the hands they should probably have left them off.

The video is well done, says Roger Goodgion

I like the part where he goes: my dad would not like the seconds indicator, but screw him im the boss now. Dad would have said don’t mess with the movement, so I said dad, why don’t you take another walk around the lake and try not to get lost. Ok, I para...

Pleasure, my friend.

;-)

 By: FabR : December 15th, 2021-00:13

Agreed, not sold on the dial.

 By: Chromatic Fugue : December 14th, 2021-18:53
It’s interesting to look at, but Patek essentially camouflaged the hands, making it very difficult to tell the time (at least visually!). We all have our pet peeves about watch design, but to me the one deal-breaker is an obvious legibility problem. Same ...

Know what?

 By: Chromatic Fugue : December 14th, 2021-19:35
I take back what I said about the 5088. That thing is so drop dead gorgeous I don’t care if I couldn’t tell the time!

Thanks, legibility is honestly not a priority for me on watches of a certain level (not to sound too poetic, but I probably couldn't even tell the last time I looked at a Rare Handcraft dial to check the time! ;-)

 By: FabR : December 14th, 2021-20:45
However, I can understand legibility might be a concern or a priority for some, this is certainly a legitimate point....in which case, even a watch in the league of the 5750 might not be for you Thanks again for commenting.

Compared to the Chopard and AP modern minute repeaters, this Patek falls behind in not offering watch resistance.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : December 14th, 2021-19:00
20m for both the Chopard and AP yet with beautiful sound. The Patek does have a sapphire caseback, but at such a cost in wearability. Either of the others could be daily wearers.

Yes, a true daily wearer.

 By: amanico : December 15th, 2021-07:42

Now this is what it's all about!

Always a marvel to see new innovations from Patek!

Pre-sold…

 By: Patekfinity : December 14th, 2021-19:33
Wonder if the 15 ppl that were allocated this watch knew they were buying this or was it communicated that they are eligible for purchase if they commit to spending around 590CHF for something not yet revealed. I guess those 15 buyers have no problem payi...

Absolutely splendid. I immediately thought 'Arabesque' when I saw the geometric pattern on the dial earlier today. Very striking indeed and a big win.

 By: Rosneathian : December 14th, 2021-22:02
Not so sure about having 'advanced research' emblazoned on the caseback, though. Research is either theoretical or applied and, if applied, one would hope it's advanced. It doesn't need to be said in so many words and has a "superlative chronometer" whiff...

This is the Patek I adore

 By: BMR : December 14th, 2021-22:08
What an incredible piece of craftsmanship and engineering!

Very refreshing to see something quite original and innovative from Patek!

 By: jleno : December 15th, 2021-00:22
I think they did a great job on this one!

Super cool piece from Patek but honestly, the sound will be the ultimate test. I have literally hears hundreds of different repeaters and still think the Chopard Full Strike is BY FAR the best in clarity, volume, etc...followed by the JLC Gyro 5,

 By: holdemchamp1225 : December 16th, 2021-16:48
Grande & Petite Sonnerie, AP Supersonnerie, and then maybe a few Pataks. Lovely design and engineering but in the end, it is all about the quality of the sound, volume, melody, tonality, etc...👍

I've heard both aide by side and would choose the Gyro 5 everytime without a doubt. The Chopard Full Strike puts both to shame in terms of volume and clarity

 By: holdemchamp1225 : December 16th, 2021-17:06
NOTHING sounds more clear than crystal, hence the saying "crystal clear." 😜

:))))

 By: amanico : December 16th, 2021-17:18

It's magnificent, too bad that the word "superlative" is used elsewhere.....

 By: nacelle : December 18th, 2021-16:07
Only for the super lucky fifteen...

Thanks Nacelle, indeed a magnificent release. In fact, as I had a chance to chat with tons of people from all over the world this week, I'm sincerely glad that all feedback from watch enthusiasts and top collectors has been SO positive on this beauty!

 By: FabR : December 18th, 2021-18:14
Once again, I think that Patek has been able to excel AND surprise us, which is always a great combo! Hopefully, this new MR concept will find its way into some references of the regular catalog in the future, so a few more deserving collectors will be ab...
