Thanks :-) I'm not sure I would be able to work outside of academia (with bosses, 12-month years, etc.), but many mathematicians do, and I'm sure it can be rewarding.

My own PhD student who graduated last year working on these very things on partitions (a bright guy, he finished at age 23!) did in fact move to investment banking, and so far he sounds very happy.
Most importantly, he recently texted me lthat his girlfriend bought him his first serious watch (a Baume&Mercier), so it's great to know that I taught him something! smile smile Cheers.

Looks like the stakes are getting higher -- you've moved from the "unreasonable searches and seizures" of the 4th Amendment to Example 71 where a watch gets officially stolen..:-))

Almost as scary stuff as a research problem on partitions I've been looking at recently... (Note: Whoever can decipher my handwriting and then help with the solution will be a coauthor! ) ...

Wohza!! Now that looks complicated!!

Did you help in creating default swaps and the fin. crisis of 2008? LOL J/K Complex stuff my friend. I hear a lot of smart math people go into investment banking, guy I sold my 15202 to, was a banker who had a degree in physics. Math can be dangerous!!! N...

 By: EinPa : January 16th, 2020-19:38
Claim it’s a variate if the Latin squares problem and therefor insolvable. That ones got me out of doing lots of useless proofs on Wall Street and none of my bosses ever wanted to admit that they didn’t know what I was talking about so voila! (How’s that ...
