as to where and under what circumstances I wear certain ones WHEN wearing a short sleeve shirt. If the watch is covered by a sleeve, for me no need to be selective or restrictive. But there is another factor, I think an important one. While the word “stolen” is used, technically the more applicable word is “robbery”, when an watch is taken by force or threat of force. It is not a case of it magically disappearing off one’s wrist (eg the clasp malfunctions). There is the potential for being injured, perhaps severely, or worse, plus the psychological effect of being assaulted. I think for many people this possibility is more disturbing than a watch being taken by a thief when it is left on a table or in a car for a few minutes.
That said, I totally appreciate your approach. Life does have risks and what is the point of having a nice watch if it mostly stays at home or in a bank vault.
