suppose....

suppose you had the possibility to make a watch with Patek (to clarify I do not have this opportunity unfortunately...).

Criteria broadly being a watch that would realistically be made, so using their case molds and dial capabilities etc and use one of their existing movements... what would you make?

For me here is what I would dream up:

Case: 38.2mm case used for 5372P modified to add a pusher, material ideally stainless steel with crystal caseback

Dial: black enamel dial, white gold stick hour indexes

Hands: no lume leaf white gold hour and minute hands, both chronograph seconds hands white (or possibly the hidden rattrapante hand silver and top white to differentiate splitseconds)....

Movement: 27-525 PS (movement in 5372P modified to exclude perpetual calendar) since I believe 29-535 PS which is in 5370P would be too large

So.... I suppose a slightly smaller 5370P with stick index, no lume and enamel dial.... can we have one made for PuristS please....

For a simpler modified version I would also be happy with a 5950A with a black enamel dial and white gold hour index.... just a dial modification...

No secret I am a fan of enamel dials....

Any other dreamers here?

I think i would say a case of 37.6mm Perpetual calendar No portholes Kinda disco volante style Angled lugs In steel!

Yes a steel perpetual would be nice...

Great case size. You would have no dial preference? Enamel perhaps?

i see

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-10:47
so a modern incarnation of the 3448 in stainless steel with a black or white enamel dial I suppose.... that would be amazing, incomparably better than the 5320 in my opinion, which is a nice piece I will add but nearly not as nice as this would be!

i was thinking cream enamel

 By: Baron - Mr Red : January 24th, 2019-10:49
....something with a little bit of colour. Yes, it would be some watch.

Perfect! :-) [nt]

I would love a green enamel dial.... Inspired by the LF green enamel made in 5pcs below... ...

how about a Nautilus without time?

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-10:48
Like Mosers repeater without visual time indication

Or a Nautilus like the Zeitwerk

 By: @WatchesandWristshots : January 27th, 2019-16:30
would be interesting, if executed properly. Best, H

very experimental idea...

40mm with the dial from the 5070P.

and....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : January 24th, 2019-06:03
....just to make it special, remove all teh numerals and replace with just studs.....just so its special!

so

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-10:56
like a 5170A with a blue dial like the 5070P... that would be cool yet somewhat similar to the 5170P, but yes I agree would be lovely!

I really like the case of the 5170, but prefer the centred subdials of the 5070.

 By: crown comfort : January 24th, 2019-12:17
I would keep the numerals even they are cut, adds more visible action on the dial than just studs

+1 [nt]

Anyone eager to join the waiting list? C.

oh...

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-10:58
did not think of that direction but I can see the demand being there for a larger piece of this sport, a chronograph version I suppose...

hahaha

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-10:58
wonder what yours would look like...

The best of both worlds

Hang on, salmon is the new pink

Purple is new pink :);) [nt]

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 24th, 2019-11:05

certainly hope purple is not the new pink...

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-11:11
Confucius supposedly said, “How regrettable when purple usurps the place of vermilion” — could be interpreted as when the vulgar usurps the place of the noble

you know.....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : January 24th, 2019-11:14
I feel like that kid in the crowd watching the King walking down the street naked. "Hey its not salmon...its PINK"

Hahaha [nt]

Yes that purple PP is really cool there is also

green 5130 Mecca which I find cool. Cheers D

Why suppose if you have Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Atelier...

By: Pour le Mérite : January 24th, 2019-09:08
...that literally makes you every watch you want if it fits within the brand.

Seeing it from a watchmakings perspective I do not and Vacheron Constantin proves it time and time again.

By: Pour le Mérite : January 24th, 2019-10:20
At this price point I wouldn't care any second about the name on the dial or the heritage behind that brand. You can love brands or you can love watchmaking where only the product itself matters. Each his own.

I never said i liked the name on the dial...

 By: Baron - Mr Red : January 24th, 2019-10:26
But I did say I prefer the brand and that encompasses the quality of the movements, the design of the watches, the reliability and the quality of service. But a bigger point for you to consider. This is the Patek Philippe forum and the original post asked...

Couldn’t agree more. [nt]

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 24th, 2019-23:13

because Patek does not offer this option for most mortals...

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-11:00
the thought exercise was merely meant for dreamers like myself and other likeminded...

Nautilus perpetual...

 By: Wristenthusiast : January 24th, 2019-13:27
But with movement from 5320. Basically it would look like current nautilus annual, but with two tiny circles. Then you retain more of the nautilus dial. Or 2526 enamel in black with updated 240 movement and transparent case back. Or original 2526 with PP ...

Funny

 By: keks : January 24th, 2019-14:44
That is how I had envisioned the Nautilus perpetual.... but I suppose the quest for a thin perpetual forced use of the 240 base. Dial however loses some of the Nautilus characteristics I think... but it is a very beautiful watch nevertheless... I like the...

perhaps your wishes will come true...

 By: keks : January 28th, 2019-11:56
now that the white and black steel 5726 is discontinued...

Fingers crossed 🤞 [nt]

What a great suggestion.

 By: @WatchesandWristshots : January 27th, 2019-16:27
I sincerely hope someone at PP listens to your 'modified' 5370. Best, H

thanks!

yes let us see what new releases will be coming this spring...
