Well, since I have never owned the 5070P, I cannot say 100% but the only different of the 5070P to the 5070G is the metal and dial color...

So if that is all I have to judge, then most likely YES I would prefer this 5170P to ANY 5070 series again due to proportions, size, wrist comfort, and dial details.

Sorry mon ami, most of the time we agree with our watch taste and before owning this 5170P I would have agreed with you without a doubt. But ownership changes things, especially after spending huge amounts of time with pieces on the wrist for a TRUE experience and not just speculation or hypothesizing about what is better or worse.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and have their own tastes of what they prefer. For me, owning both and wearing both, the 5170P just sits better on my wrist and feels more special due to the dial details.

Nothing against the 5070G or 5070P, they are iconic and amazing pieces. With my chicken wrist 🐔, the 5170P just feels and looks more balanced on me 😉👍🙏

Oddly enough, it is the same reason why I prefer the Double Split much more than the 39mm Datograph. In this instance, I prefer the larger piece due to proportions, balance, and visual appeal 😉

I am not totally convinced by the dial/ diamond combo. I have been eying it for many months but for me my DD40 with the baguette diamond markers on ice blue works better than this darker blue.

Your DD is tops, indeed. Just the right amount of eccentricity.
