I will start off by stating that I already have a good idea of my intended direction, but I am curious to hear how others view it. Of course, personal taste will vary considerably from one person to another, and nobody can really get inside my head to det...  

May a suggest a nautilus , an ellipse in yellow gold. The nautilus , the 38mm model. The one previous to the new model 5711a. As you have a chrono & world time , perhaps you need playboy watches of patek both a nautilus and ellipse. Cheers! Geross

Get the one with eccentric seconds on the right side. White gold railroad black dial. I forgot the ref but saw it in bangkok , really nice. My opinion my suggestion. Cheers!

I like your vertical/horizontal thing Joe I think I prefer the vertical collecting even if, in the end, it is the sensation I have in owning a watch that preveils, no matter the fact I may have a close looking watch already. I guess you would like to rema... 

The vertical vrs horizontal was a Bill term. I like it too. To be a vertical guy, I think you need to have a very focussed passion. I have that in some specific areas, but in Rolex rather than Patek. The 3940 is a watch I love. I saw MikeH version in Pari... 

...and the 3940 I saw... was the same one :p I like the 5970 a lot but deciding to have one or several from a lower budget is really a tough decision. From the watches you gathered you certainly made a great one. The Gondolo is indeed a watch not easy to ... 

I understand nothing about vertical vs. horizontal. But what I know for sure is that 3940 together with 5550P are the finest slim perpetuals Patek has ever made! You can forget 5140 as 3940 has so much cleaner dial. What is amazing with 3940 is that even ... 

.....i want to pay you a compliment. You are a big guy, yet you are totally happy to wear watches that are quite small relative to the sizes that are out there. I think there are so many guys who feel in some way "threatened" by wearing a small watch...as... 

Me, BIG GUY? Look at the picture: my wife, youngest daughter, me and mother-in-law above us. Am I big? With watches I have strict size limits: 35-40 mm. Naturally there are some exceptions: I you would like to give me your 5070P, I would wear it with plea...  

Yep...i also have a rule on 35-40mm But I make one or two exceptions. Thank you for your most generous offer to wear my 5070P. I will let you know when I decide to take you up on that kind offer! Best Joe

Allow me to be generous in offering you some wrist real estate for your 5070P as well. It's all about finding watches that you love. If nothing else is available that you love, don't buy anything. Just sit and wait, maybe there will be a year or two betwe...

Ellipse was already given, but depending if you want a complication or not: 5100 5940G 5098P Btw, I would go for a 5100G or P (if I would have the budget) Happy hunting, Dirk

the 2526 or 570 are stunning calatravas but different to your magnificent pieces you already own- or maybe ref 2552 I would agree with 3940p as well I am sure whatever you choose will be top class Ps I tried on a vintage ellipse Be aware it is a small pie... 

.....Ellipse is indeed small....but i think it works for me. More Calatravas....yes, I have definitely considered that too. When I see a WG or Steel 570, it is very tempting for sure. The way I see it, though, is that I have 4 Calatravas of various metals...

Indeed as a vintage model a tad too small. The current Ellipse is among the few modern "magnifications" in the new collection that has worked well. Best Moritz

....i think the juxtaposition of the yellow gold and the chrono complication works really well for me. I have to say, 3940P, Ellipse and 1579 would all be very nice additions....complimentary. This exercise is interesting as everyone has a view. Obviously... 

Good luck in your hunt for your next piece. I can only offer two pieces of advice, in order of importance. 1. Don't over think it, wait till you see or try on a watch and know its what you want. Those are always the easiest decisions. 2. If you had to pus... 

if not the 3940 then the 5050 with stick dial in any metal….or the 5125 P or R are also gorgeous… just my 5c Lot of the time one never knows until the moment is there…. on the wrist. Good luck and look forward to reading what you end up going for!

Hello there, knowing your preference for white metal and your desire for a classic looking Patek I would suggest the 5396 G. It is a quintessentiel Patek by being an annual calendar, it is a classic looking 38 mm, sporty-elegant which makes it a playboy P... 

.....you are right. I think coloured or white gold in that watch is superb. I do like the fact that the case has that 70s feel to it.... does that make sense? Yes, I think you are on the right lines here.

The issue is, if i wanted a sports watch, then nothing in my mind beats Rolex. So, I see pate as offering something quite separate.
