Resale value for Discontinued Golden Ellipse models

Apr 22, 2018,04:27 AM

I've had my heart set for the Yellow Golden 3738/100J-012 for quite some time, and just when I was about to travel to Geneva to purchase one, learned that there's no more inventory and that the model is discontinued.  Bummer...  And no - the Rose and Platinum doesn't quite do it for me.   Because it is no longer produced, I wonder about the resale value.

A fellow PP enthusiast stated that Patek will service all its watches - discontinued or not. But what if the watch is purchased from a non-Authorized retailer or distributor?  Will it still be serviceable with proper papers?     Is PP going through a consolidation right now?

Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Even a freelance watchmaker is able to service the Caliber 240 due to its "simple" functions. It is extra flat which would ask for a skilled watchmaker though...

ADs

Thanks for insight on Caliber model, but I'm only interested in Yellow Golden Ellipse.

although having been in production for 50 years has not enjoyed the good resale values when compared to other Pateks. It may have the same movement as the Calatrava models but one can pick up a yellow gold model from the 70s, 80s or 90s at a great price. ...
