Presented in 2017, this watch features a minute repeater utilising cathedral gongs and a cream ‘grand feu’ (great fire – ceramics fired at high temperatures) enamel dial. Grand feu dials require multiple firings to build up layers to create a vitreous like surface. Such a process is challenging and results in high rates of failure. Coupled with Breguet numerals and hands, this piece, in my opinion, is an example of timeless elegance and Patek Philippe at its best.

The case is 40mm in diameter and is made out of 18K grey gold. It is moisture and dust resistant, so it’s best to be careful around water. The double stepped lugs are a nice touch.

The crown features a Calatrava Cross.

The repeater slide.

Calibre R 27 PS has a minimum power reserve of 43 hours to a maximum of 48 hours. It is 28mm in diameter and 5.05 mm in thickness. The beat rate is 21,600 vibrations per hour. A Spiromax hairspring is used, which was designed to improve chronometric performance. As with all minute repeaters of this era, they must be listened to by Thierry Stern for approval before being delivered to the customer.
A delight it would be to listen to the chiming of this watch to signal the new year. Happy 2024 to all! Enjoy your watches in the best of health.
