I am providing updates here to share notes for the benefit of the community.
A few days after I returned the watch to the AD, the SA informed me that his management believed that GMT Singapore (the Patek agent for the SEA region) would just repair the seconds hand and return the watch. However, his management committed, at their own initiative, to provide me a completely new watch. But I had to wait until a new blue dial 5711 came into their hands. I replied that I was alright with waiting. I was overall happy with this arrangement. I did remark to the SA that I doubt GMT will just repair the watch as this was a significant quality issue.
A couple of days ago, the SA called me asking me to bring back the whole complete box set and the bracelet links. It turns out that GMT Singapore will be returning the whole watch back to Switzerland as they want to investigate how this flaw could have happened. The watch goes through so many checks and eyes, that its so weird that such a glaring flaw could have slipped through. Perhaps the second hand bent by itself while in the case? Nobody knows, hence the investigation.
The AD then agreed to refund my money in full. I told the SA that I was not requesting for my money back because I still wanted the watch. But to not make things difficult, I accepted the refund. The SA then told me that the only issue now is the matter of pricing. If Patek so happens to significantly increase the price ie. more than a 5% increase, then the AD cannot sell the watch at the same price to me. Anyway, I told the SA to do his best and see what happens. I said I already made a legitimate transaction last year, so the price should be maintained whether or not Patek increase prices. But I also realise that contractually the AD and Patek could just repair the watch and insist that I accept that.
Anyway, I believe that the AD is doing its best, and I believe I will eventually get my watch, at the same price.
Just to share how rare the blue dial 5711 is, the SA told me that GMT has one blue dial 5711 expected to come in sometime Mar/April (hopefully), and I am first on the standby list. Just one piece for the whole region. I never knew supply was SO limited.

With these flaws...
With these flaws, and given that this is a newly purchased watch, I would insist on a substitute that is NIB. This is totally unacceptable from an AD.

I also had a problem with a new PP 5711. The 12 o'clock markers were not properly aligned and there was a problem screwing in the winding stem. My watch was one of the last 5711 (2009) with the Geneva seal, purchased in the US.
