Recent Grail acquisition

Apr 04, 2021,21:56 PM

Recently, I got an opportunity and traded my 5712/1A for the 5726/1A-014. As the 5712 was my thinnest watch, I do miss that very aspect of it. I also loved the asymmetric dial and PR indicator on the dial. For those that know me, they know I love PR indicators, for both auto and manual movements and I also like them on the back of the watch to keep the dial clean. In contrast, the 5726 is a beast, has more blue to appreciate than the 5712, central seconds and much thicker the the 5711/5712/5740. It’s my first AC, so I am really looking forward to taking advantage of this complication assuming I can keep it wound LOL. The date aperture is much easier to read and I really like the 24 hour indicator.

This is a trade I've thought about more than once, but I love my 5712 too much. Two very different watches (relatively). I see the 5726 better positioned as an all-rounder. Enjoy it in the best health!

I definitely believe that the 5726/1A could perfectly be my only watch

I used to own the early strap version, which I loved and miss, but it never sat well on my wrist. And not as versatile as the bracelet version in my opinion.

The thinness of the 5712 is one of the features that I love the most

It really contributes to the overall look of the watch, and its comfort on the wrist, which is second to none. I wear long sleeve shirts on a daily basis, and tall cases are a real pain.

Owning both is not in my plans either

It wouldn't make sense (to me) in my collection

Huge congratulations.

Can’t imagine at the current market prices I can easily trade

5712 for e.g. Datograph or Zeitwerk with plenty to spare. Alas, such is life...

I guess it’s in the details... you know these large trade houses...

The Chrono prices say you can but the dealers like to make margin on both sides of the deal. I love my 403 Dato, but I too am thinking of the ZW

Thanks Quattro!

What would you say about the weight of the watch ? I know it is significantly bigger than 5711/5712 in size but how about the weight?

Hi! Good question. When I get my food scale I will report back. I believe that when wearing heavier watches...

It really is about the bracelet or strap fitment. It is definitely feels more substantial than the 5712 on the wrist. Whether that is a negative or a positive is user based. I immediately felt the difference when I put it on. I think I am also wearing the...
