Previous analysis taught me that it is difficult to equate two similar but different objects

I was asked to give a talk to some business people on When Does Value of A Equal Value of B (or something like that of my choosing)
GM had just produced a year's worth of sales on the original civilian version Hummer H1 20,000 units at 50,000=$1 billion
Honda had produced a year's worth of their US-only Honda Element 50,000 units at 20,000=$1 billion
Each seats 2 or 4 people, offers some utility & transportation value, both have all wheel drive, certified for use in all 50 states, boxy styling, etc.
Both are "motor vehicles" and apparently offered enough value to convince American buyers in a free market to ante up $1 billion in one year.
I managed to come up with an hour-long lecture to ask (and answer) this question: Are they equivalent? The answer was Um, Yes and No.
Same with your Patek and Lange.
