Go with the Deployant Clasp instead of the Buckle
I traded my buckle on my 5227G to a deployant clasp. It made the watch easier, quicker and safer to put on and remove. In the long run you will save on the cost of leather watch bands which could be several hundred dollars a year, if the watch is a daily or frequent wear. When I sold my watch a few years ago, I received more money than I would have because of the deployant. The store was more concerned about the box and papers, and didn't even ask about the buckle. The Price is right
The price for the platinum deployant clasp with the buckle trade-in is about right. Everything with a Patek is expensive. Ask your A.D. how much would a replacement spring bar for your watch strap would cost and you would know exactly what I mean. Good lu...
For me, with this reference, I would prefer to get the deployant clasp and trade in the pin buckle.

I don't understand this type of first world problem...... If the watch came on the deployant only.... then you could have the deployant only..... BUT If it came on a tang buckle..... I would want to retain the original....... Also the strap is different -...
I am surprised your AD wasn’t willing to play ball on the deployant instead of the tang.
I have done just this with a number of pieces from Patek and Lange. I would get the deployant, doing the swop makes perfect sense as why have a redundant tang but you will need a new strap for best fit on the wrist.
I prefer the aesthetic simplicity of the regular buckle.
Personally I find the excessively ornate and showy PP symbol on the deployant very jarring.
