Recently, I was looking to buy a datagraph and chatted with a few Lange owners. I am not sure why this is the case, XXX Getting away from price, my inclination would be the 5960. I think it is a classic Patek with nice history given it was, i believe, the... 

XXX However, the 5960 is just a chronograph with annual cal (yes, the first PP automatic chrono mechanism), but is just that. Double Split on the other hand, is just something really unique, a true milestone in horology. Besides, who needs actually a cale...

... especially if u have a big wrist. That watch has a very strong presence on the wrist. The patek is not a perpetual calendar. Its a nice watch though but very far from the Lange. I find the dial of the Lange stunning, even if ur right, there is a date ...

Maybe many will say that 5960 is not the best Patek chrono you can get in the rich Patek chrono family, but it is definitely a combination of true innovation, aesthetics and wear comfort. In addition, I trust Patek much more than a brand owned by a big li... 

In ten years time you and people who see the Patek on your wrist will acknowledge the quality, good taste and classic style of your watch. Lange do make superb watches but there is only one Patek Phillipe. We all suffer from "the grass is greener" effect ...

I know this is the Patek forum; but I personally find the double split to be a major horological achievement.

Best chronos and split-seconds chrono should be manual wound calibers, period. 5960P is automatic chrono, despite its novel originality from Patek, that never appeals to me. So between 5960P and Lange DS, definitely Lange DS. You should be comparing Lange... 

Would be for the 5960P The reason being that although the DS is a fantastic piece of craftmanship. I know that I would hardly ever use the DS complication. Where as I would always use the Annual Calendar and occasionally the chronograph function. Some mem...

it REALLY boils down to what you expect either of these watches to do for you OR give you. If you are only being tempted just because of the possibility of getting something, walk away as you will regret it. You forked out a sum with all the accompanying ... 

besides it is very difficult to make money on a watch- so buy/keep/trade the one that YOU like the most and will enjoy wearing. At the end of the day- that would be the best buy Cheers

Even though I prefer smaller watch, DS will provide alot more enjoyment to me. And personally, I see it possibly being a rare beast in future. *CL

I have a 5960P and have also "toyed" with the DS many many times. IMHO, another deciding factor will be whether you will wear the DS. It is not an easy watch to be worn but if you can wear it comfortably on your wrist, I would say go for the DS. The DS wi... 

This is not apples to apples. I love Patek, but the Lange DS is a much more desirable watch. Is it as wearable? Maybe not for some. But examine one of each in your hands and play with the chrono functions, and if you are after horological appreciation you... 

But the choice you have is, to me, between aesthetics and horology. Aesthetically speaking, I would go on the 5960P, for its beautiful dial, then also because the size is more modest more easily wearable. Horologically speaking, there is no doubt, the Dou...
