Unfortunately I do not play lotto...

Anyhow, I'm mostly interested in modern Pated because the vintage is like a deep swamp.

I have most of the versions I want to have in steel and in WG but clearly five platinum pieces are missing. I'm trying to get a bunch of watches which cover most of the movements and complications of Patek. So the list of the missing ones:

5316P:

Here we have the Minute Repeater, Tourbillon and the QP with retrograde date. Plus the size of the watch is perfect.

5372P-010:

Because there's not yet 5270P, this "will do". The finest split-second chronograph movement made by Patek together with QP.

6102P:

A fantastic Astronomical complication which is so complex that I have difficulties to understand it.

5370P:

In my opinion one of the very finest Patek watches ever made. This one is on my list for 2018.

5131P:

The Mother of all World Times. I love the not-so-colourful dial and the heft of platinum. Furthermore, my favourite part of the world is in the map. This one I will pick up in the end of the year.

***

My list of 5 is something I can collect during the coming 5 years or so. After these I'm done!

Imran, thanks for a great topic again.

Best, Kari

..my first 5 buys after a big win would be: Breguet 1907(thanks Q&P); IWC Grand Complication Platinum; IWC Da Vinci Tourbillon(thanks J&M); Platinum Speedy & Rolex Daytona Platinum. After these I'd sit down and think about the 'Big Boys!! Best...

Nice selection...

I will say, the IWC Grand Complication, which I have some experience with... Very big, very heavy (platinum version on leather strap), minute repeater too slow and too quiet. They apparently make a Grand Complication with a split seconds Chronograph I hea...

Wow! Did not know about this....

....the IWC GC Split. Best. (thanks: Motion in Time). ...

I still don't love it...

 By: patrick_y : October 30th, 2017-00:55
The Minute repeater is slow, takes nearly 30 seconds for the 12:59 sequence. A Patek Philippe takes around 18 seconds. Also, the MR has a very noisy governor, so if you put your watch to your ear, you hear a lot of background noise from the spinning gover...

John.

I don't need so much money to build my ideal Patek Collection.

I would go for: 1/ The same vintage Patek World Time than you, Imran. 2/ 5970P: 3/ 5131P, but on a strap: 4/ 5100G: 5/ 3417: 6: 3939G Or 5078P: Best, Nicolas ...

I will post my top 5 later on. One needs to think very carefully to shortlist one's top 5!!

Ah ok! :-)

That makes it a lot easier

Here are my Top 5 Pateks of all time!

And I only need a million dollars! 1. Patek 5029R - This minute repeater was produced in 30 pieces in 1997 (10 in yellow, 10 in rose and 10 in platinum) to commemorate the opening of Patek's new factory. I love the elegant dial with its Breguet hands and ...

I am not too keen on the 324 movement compared to the 240

Your pictures show a love for the Officers case!

I wish the lonfon watchbwas platinum with enamel dial Best Imran

I am quite predictable

 By: sham1 : October 28th, 2017-09:42
which is why finding a watch is quite simple - it has to be the right size for me, preferably slim with Breguet hand and numerals. The officer's case is also an obvious attraction. I am personally not too keen on enamel dials as they tend to be too white ...

Some platin Officer temptation!

Love the 3960

 By: sham1 : October 28th, 2017-18:51
Correct everything but the platinum in only 50 pieces is not so good value for money! I know, I know, I am so demanding but for I cannot fathom buying the above when I know I can pick up a 3969R (my jump hour dream) and still have change to buy a 3960J!!!...

5959 is the best

 By: Alex25 : October 29th, 2017-16:08
In my humble opinion 5959 is the best watch Patek has ever produced. Maybe Patek realizes it too, so the price is cough... suddenly a bit too high. The second best watches are watches with only repeaters as a complication. And the third one is unfortunate...

Hi Alex, the 5959 is indeed a special and superb watch,

 By: Miranda : October 29th, 2017-16:52
This watch mvt 198 340 was quoted as being the mist important wristwatch ever made by Dr George Daniels It is a minute repeater with perpetual from the 1930's Then there is the unique ref 3615 Finally let me show you Msr Philippe Stern's prrsonal watch A ...

Repeaters are amazing

 By: Alex25 : October 30th, 2017-00:39
Can you say why George Daniels named it the most important watch? By the way the tourbillon you sent looks like it wasn’t produced by PP. Did they invite someone else to help?

Once I have thr go ahead I will enlighten you on the tourbillon, as for Daniels

 By: Miranda : October 30th, 2017-15:10
Get the book Watches by Daniels and Clutton Only has one wristwatch in it Often referred to as the Horological Bible Best Imran

Thanks

 By: Alex25 : October 31st, 2017-01:33
I will definitely get it

Have not thought about it much. But 2 3 minute repeaters would be fine with me.

 By: geross : October 28th, 2017-06:39
A Nautilus platinum 5711 , an ellipse platinum would likewise be fine. Another Aquanaut in white gold can pass. Cheers friends. Geross.

2497 WG applied Breguet numerals and 1526 stainless steel with blackened applied Arabic numerals. These are the top 2, unique, mint and extraordinarily beautiful.

 By: patekova : October 28th, 2017-11:24
Both appeared at the same Geneva auction a few years ago. 3rd - RG or WG 2 button 2523 WT with cloisonnΓ© map, whichever is more mint. I love WTs and this is the ultimate for me. 4th - 2499 RG 3rd series, the super mint one coming up next month for auction...

Wow, superb choices!

 By: Miranda : October 28th, 2017-11:30
Vintage heaven in 5 pieces! Some pictures of your choices! A truly sumptuous collection! Thanks!! Imran ...

Thank you Imran for taking the time to find and post those images!!!!! For accuracy's sake, while the 2499 RG you post is fantastic,

 By: patekova : October 28th, 2017-11:43
It is a very nice 2d series. The one I am referring to is a 3rd series almost NOS with no tachometer track. Will be auctioned in Geneva in a couple of weeks. Against, many thanks for locating and posting the images!! Best, patekova

Thats an very nice and expensive shopping list

I have only the 5131P on my list, but the 5316P could be an supplement if they discounted the 5208P

I have 5131P in the Salon

and 5370P & 5170P on the way. Hopefully a nice 5270P will be introduced and then the shopping list is "just" around 1 million. Best, Kari

Excellent choices! Best Imran

hard to narrow it down with so many amazing pieces....

 By: keks : October 29th, 2017-11:58
1436A could be a nice alternative to the 5950A as well, stainless split second.... and then there is the iconic 2499P of course which in hindsight must overtake the 5970G/P.... how could I forget the 2499P, I would have to toss that in there as well!

This would be a very nice problem to have.

In no particular order I’d go for: - 5070p London edition. An exclusive version of an icon. - 3670a. I’m not very knowledgeable about vintage Pateks, so this modern watch with a vintage movement seems like a safe choice. Plus it’s a chronograph in steel a...

Tough question....

In no specific order: 1. ALS Turbograph Perpetual 2. PP 5370P 3. PP 2499P 4. PP 5178G 5. Lange 1 Tourbillion PC Handwerkskunst

My top 5

5539R (Think Patek may introduce it at some point), 5711A (blue), 3738G, 5940R... will keep my 5140G, so I "only" need four other pieces to complete my dream collection

I will play, too

I would like to ask you about your third choice since I never Seen/heard about this watch. Can you tell me something more about it, because I tried to search on the internet but I could not manage to find anything. Thank you. Best,
