Since I own this watch my assessment might be biased.

The 5960A clearly has a lot of great attributes that twisted my arm into buying one. Once I had it in my possession for a couple of weeks I found it to be mostly better than I had imagined. I have a few cons that I'll share.

1. The subseconds markings are 1/5 second while the movement beats at 4 hz or 1/4 second. Seems a bit odd. Kind of a trivial con.

2. The chronograph pushers aren't as smooth as I expected on a $50k watch.

3. I wish the watch had instantaneous minutes on the chronograph.

4. The chronograph hour hand color I thought was blue but the actual brown color offers low contrast and is harder to read than I'd like.

5. I wish Patek used orange instead of red for the chronograph hands.

6. The bracelet is a bit too feminine for my taste.

7. I thought I'd be able to get a custom made strap like I saw on this forum but Camille Fournet no longer takes orders for the exact strap I wanted.

8. [Problem with Camille Fournet not the 5960] I bought an "extra long" strap for my 19cm wrist. The extra long is really designed for someone with a 23+ cm wrist but they recommended it based on my wrist size. I had to punch in about five extra holes and it now looks a bit ridiculous. Usually when I have standard sized straps they are a bit too short and I'm using the first hole and the end barely makes it into the keepers.

9. Would be better if it were 1-2 mm thinner.

The "pros"

1. It runs very close to +/- 0 s/day

2. It's a Patek annual calendar + 12 hour flyback chronograph + power reserve + day/night indicator => kinda the "poor mans" grand complication.

3. It's a steel Patek that you don't need to pay 100% premium to buy.

4. The case size is nearly perfect.

5. The dial is beautifully designed and executed flawlessly. [Except my minor issues listed as "cons".]

6. The white dial allows the watch to look great with a wide variety of third party watch straps.

In all the cons are minor so the pros win the argument. 5960A white is a great watch.

After a long doubt I decided it was time to pull the trigger on this one. The love for the 5960 reference has always been there. The only factor that it took me a while was about deciding which one to get. Personally I went with the A because the stainles...

Thank you. Very much appreciated.

My work is much easier and when I am off, I mostly wrar Rolex. My standard office watch is 5960. Other Pateks get very little wrist time. Best Kari

Thank you Raymond. [nt]

You are right. They definitely add charm to the watch. Now is the time to get it IMHO. Best, H

I’m trying to do as you asked...

 By: David_S : February 4th, 2019-01:48
... and find some cons, not just pros. I’m afraid I’m coming up empty. It’s a beautiful watch, congratulations! PS: the one con is that I don’t own it...

Yes, but I think I'll just stick with the 5270 and the Triple Split this year...

There is a significant risk of divorce from my wife and mutiny from my kids otherwise...

That's a bummer. Take care. [nt]

Great watch you got there. Both of them for that matter... Please feel free to join in on the 5960 PuristS roll call if you can find it among older posts... would love to keep counting the 5960s here

Thanks Keks.

I have it. I have the black leather strap, w red stitching. Tried for a while, but always wear now with steel band. So much classier. Enjoy

Definitely agree on these ones: 3. I wish the watch had instantaneous minutes on the chronograph. 5. I wish Patek used orange instead of red for the chronograph hands. and these 2. It's a Patek annual calendar + 12 hour flyback chronograph + power reserve...

Always loved this reference

Congratulations- it looks really nice in your wrist shot

I love mine and just put it on after dinner tonight. (Although I usually war it for work) It wears so easily and I love that bracelet. I think it adds to its organic curved lines.

Thanks Christian!

Great utilitarian Watch

Great utilitarian watch. I’ve owned both the white and black dial but sold the white dial, I wish I had kept it. The watch is extremely comfortable easy to wear, relatively light on the wrist and great complications. The only complaint I have is the chron...

Did you own them at the same time? That thought did already crossed my mind. Also I like the other variations, for sure the black dial. The thing is it is incredibly comfortable and very versatile. But first see how I like it for a longer period of time b...

i found a new 5960A in a European AD, with white dial. i have a buying adoption until tomorrow....not sure yet though. i was looking for a black faced 5960A, called all over europe and did not get lucky. so what to do, to buy or not to buy? i like the wat...

Hi Peter, As Amanico stated; Buy only if you like it.

 By: @WatchesandWristshots : February 15th, 2019-09:33
Personally I did like all the 5960 variations a lot. Aesthetically I love the 5960A with it's bracelet. It's functions, it's case shape and the vintage inspired pushers. Also it is a Flyback chronograph topped off with an Annual Calendar AND all of that i...

Hey, biggest congrats on the 5960A!

That’s simply a lovely watch. Elegant and sporty at the the same time. In the beginning I had my issues with the bracelet like many others here but after a while I could understand the specialty of it. Now I never use a strap on it any more but bracelet o...

Thank you very much!

Happy to hear you like it too. It is indeed a ref where possibly some of us have to get used to and over time get comfortable with. The bling of it under the AD's lights is not there in real life if you know what I mean. Best, H
