Definitely not too small!
It is my favourite perpetual calendar chronograph where the movement fills up the case back so much better than the 5970 and 5270. With the 3970, the question is not if the size is right but rather which metal one should go for?!!

It's all about what you feel wearing it. It happened to me with my 5110, which I considered initially a small watch, but I love wearing it. And in your case, the movement is something else! Enjoy it!
