and I've been collecting for such a short period of time that I don't know what the market was like before it went crazy in the late 2000's but I think this economic down turn has been great for watch collectors in General. The majority of the side line dealers that would just flip a watch have been fished out. Its become to risky for them. The grey market guys are now selling many of the sought after pieces at decent discounts and AD's are back to treating customers like they are important and not like they are doing them a favor by selling them a desirable watch. I don't even pretend to know what will happen in the future but I do know a ton of the piece I have always liked have become more available at price points that let more people in and thats got to be good for the collecting world.
