Naturally one can't compare apples and oranges
and 5550 is an apple and 5450 the orange.
I never bought 5146 just because of the date. But now when I have 5450 I have used to the date window and I am amazed how readable the watch is. In the readability class it is my #1 complicate Patek.
At the same time I would rank 5550 99 points out of 100 (Parker points). The text "Advanced Research" is not needed but I does not shine out.
I am also very worried about the new style. When I look at my limited platinum pieces, 5100P and 5450P are Philippe Stern's time and these watches are very clean and sober. My 5550P and 5975P are Thierry Stern's creatures. Both are fantastic watches but in my eyes louder. Advanced research in the dial of 5550P and lots of engraving in the clasp of 5975P. Naturally, I changed the clasp to a standard deployment clasp and interestingly, I hear that many other clients did just the same.
For me Patek is about quality, a little bit conservative design and understatement. Glitter and huge size is not the traditional understatement I love.

I do not have really bad memories from the nappies period. My wife tells (proudly) to everybody that once, on a Sunday morning, I changed the nappy. But I have lots of experience with the three older ones. Best, Kari

That's the colour first coming to my mind.
But this colour plays tricks on the wrist. It changes from light to dark but the watch is in all conditions very readable. Don't misunderstand; I like the watch and its colour a lot! Best, Kari
