I was probably over critical of the 5231J

So I collect WT (mostly white metal) and the 5231J held zero interest to me as: A) smaller case on watch which is already difficult to read the city names: Ok...was probably wrong. The city names are easier to read than my 5131's but not the 5575. B) I hated the brand being engraved and blocking the ocean on the enamel dial. It's why you buy the watch..for the enamel.... It is annoying but small and you cant have everything. You cant really see it at arms distance C) Yellow Gold....grandfather metal Was pleasantly surprised and with blue strap think it goes nicely. D) the map is very subdued...colour wise This remains ..but somehow there is a bit if charu. Not sure it's the blue of the ocean or the contrast with the cloissone but it's great looking So in summary it is a very nice watch and when you think of the work that goes into the cloissone enamel it's hard to understand why sports watches versus these works of arts are flavour of the year.

matches the dial well ! đź‘Ť

Thanks Karl, as usual, for your thoughtful post and blunt opinion. I’m actually in agreement with your general sentiment on this beautiful 5231J...

A rare handcraft model that’s unarguably on a different league than the sports (or most other) Pateks, even though to be entirely honest my personal preference remains with the 5131 lineup, in part because of the reasons you mentioned...Here’s a few pictu...

Hehehe...
