A unique dial on a top elegant watch...

Yesterday I had the chance to see (and try) an amazing watch: not only 3940 is always a wonderful PC but if it has a unique dial then it becomes very special ! Because a picture is better than a long speech here it is... You don't see what is so special ?...

Congratulations on having the guts

Not only to consider this piece, but to say no when it's not right for you! Well done. Also, this is beautiful, those subtle blue hands and that sundial! Now looking at the normal one isn't the same!

I noticed the leap year cross at first sight and I told to myself: that's strange, I didn't see such a particularity before. Now, I better understand. I didn't know only two of them were made (rare is a weak work here)

Do you know who was the owner of this timepiece my friend and why it's in Italian? Have a nice Sunday... and stop to torture yourself 😁 Best wishes Alkiro

Let's be accurate...

I did not affirm with certainty that these are the only 2 ones, I only said after immense search I did not find anywhere the single trace of such other dial than these 2.This is why I said "the challenge is to find another one" like this one, but my convi...

Now the X subdial is something special! would be great if we could find more info on it.

Have been yearning for an Italian dial 3940 for some time, but the X takes the biscuit! Have never encountered such a thing. Research mission unleashed. Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing The 2 "ordinary" ones from my collection; first series J and a late series P Bests ...

There is no "ordinary" 3940 ! This ref is quintessential Patek and THE iconic PC

And with a 1st series J + a Platinum version you are well covered for sure !

What a surprised find!

The leap year numbers are in same orientation of the 24 hours numbers, which I find it is much more harmonious

Love it.

The pinnacle of horology. There is no better watch IMO.
