I dedicate this 5100P acquisition to ch9698

May 09, 2016,04:36 AM

And I blame you for all the time, trouble and money that was needed to find a N.O.S. 5100P.

But now the original (too short) black strap is changed to a temporary one with folding clasp and the watch is on my wrist.

Thank you ch9698! And a couple of quick pictures:

Thank you for watching. I love this watch!

Best, Kari

3 x new Patek in platinum, one in steel and one vintage. I think that will do for a month or what's your opinion? Best, Kari

for you

That is not the case!

In a normal month I pick nothing. Now just the orders packed to one big bunch. After this month's Patek purchases, I will just get a GP + one JLC. In the end of the year I'll get one grand complication of Patek and probably one next spring. But I start to...

Manta Ray on your recent fishing trip ! How long does it take to wind it up from zero power ? Cheers, Gordon

It was a hard 5 minutes job.

 By: dr.kol : May 9th, 2016-11:15
But I'll give power next Monday and then it will be easier. Thanks, Kari

Congratulations Kari

a really nice model and the platinum case with black dial is awesome. The best combination to my taste too, even much more elegant than the WG case with blue dial IMHO after having seen both. Enjoy it for a long long time. This watch should take maybe mor...

Also my taste. Originally I wanted 5100G

but "grew" to 5100P. I'm happy like a small kid! Now in May I will still pick up 3 x platinum Patek from the Salon, one steel and then still one vintage. Crazy month. But I'm trying to get a couple of alternatives to my 5960A. Best, Kari

Kari, always a pleasure

Nautilus 40th Anniversary model, if any plus 3 x pt. watches. Unfortunately the latter ones are not cheap so I need to work for a while to collect the needed extra cash. But all in all. I start to have what I want. Best, Kari

Thanks RussW! [nt]

Definitely an emblematic shaped Patek and I see that you got a very well fitted out version. You're now going to play with how you'll dress the case with straps and I'"m looking forward to see that. The decoration of this movement and the way it holds the...

not-so-conventional straps were ordered today through Patek Salon. The folding clasp will sit perfectly when thenstrap is 80 x 125 mm. Funny how the length needs to be a little bit adjusted according to the size and the shape of the case. Flying soon home...

I imagine it will need special adjustments indeed

We had summer weather yesterday but cloudy today! Have a nice flight (will pass quickly with this new watch on your wrist). Cheers, Mark PS: I love this little "closet" for those anniversary references.

The closet is nice

but I liked also the booklets. There's a small book with a big picture of manta. I remember when I saw it for the first time when diving. It's really impressive and perhaps the watch can't impress in the same way but for sure, it's far away of being stand...

i've always loved the 10 day power reserve. With all your beautiful pieces you can start your own museum, charge a modest entrance fee and recoup some change and out toward your next acquisition. Aloha. Bob

You speak like Business Priest Bob...

 By: dr.kol : May 9th, 2016-11:45
No, I will not start a museum. But I can take next autumn 10 pieces or so to Lapland in order to let you play with those. Naturally, I'll take some selected pieces to Honolulu next July. We can play with those then. Summer arrived Europe. It's sunny and w...

LOL A business priest. That's good one.

I look forward to playing in Hawaii and Lapland. The weather is great here. Balmy trades, some light showers every now and then, beautiful blue skies and surf is good. BTW. Now that you've had some time to settle in, how is your old age? Aloha, Bob

Thanks Poky, yes 5100

is an important reference in the history of Patek. The case is different and very nice and the movement is exceptional. Best, Kari

Congratulations!

This is an amazing watch. I just got the 5100g recently and could not be happier with it. Enjoy Nick

I remember your 5100G

 By: dr.kol : May 9th, 2016-22:19
and it's a great colour combination. I had for a long time difficulties to decide which one. Enjoy yours. Best, Kari

Your collection is growing faster and faster

By: COUNT DE MONET : May 10th, 2016-01:54
Congratulations to this cool Patek! This time the strap combination is a bit too modern looking. The original in a fitting length would be my choice. Best Moritz

Dear Moritz

 By: dr.kol : May 10th, 2016-02:03
I agree with you. This is a temporary one and Patek straps are on order - including the original one. Very often they know what is fitting with the watch. Best, Kari

So how about

 By: xxn : May 10th, 2016-01:58
a shot of that amazing patek collection you have??

One day I'll show a couple together.

 By: dr.kol : May 10th, 2016-02:02
And I do not have a collection as I'm just buying watches to wear. I just happen to like Patek... Best, Kari

Totally

I was offered the watch you speak about last year. I nearly took it but after sleeping a couple of nights, I informed that in my opinion Nautilus is made of steel. Now when I have been sleeping 180 nights more, I contacted Patek last week to ask if they s...

I am delighted this went to a good home. John also assisted me before I bought it originally but ultimately I never wore it and it was languishing in the safe. My loss is your gain!

Thanks Conkers.

requires a "fatso" wrist and I have it. I can't imagine that this watch would look very good on a lightly built wrist. Best, Kari

Kari congrats !
