Keep the 5960p.

Apr 12, 2020,01:07 AM

It is truly an amazing watch and if there were a 10 year waiting list it would be many people’s grail and cost €100k . Ask yourself it this were the case would you be wanting to swap it for a 5270???
If the answer is still yes then go for it but I fear the answer would be a resounding Hell No way.
So if there is any doubt there is no doubt.
If you sell the 5960p you will regret it and then you will be doing whatever you can to replace it.
Hope this helps as it would help me and good luck.
M.

Have I found my grail?

I’m rarely wearing my 5960P during this lockdown period, but I do have it with me at home. I enjoy it keeping it running all the time, which is quite easy thanks to the handy power reserve indication. I like seeing the days passing on its beautiful annual...

I would keep the 5960, despite its automatic movement ( I prefer manual ) and the fact that it is not a perpetual calendar.

But it is a flyback chrono and an annual calendar. AND, with its mono counter, it is really special and versatile. Best, Nicolas

Thanks my friend, I'm with you 👍🏻

I still remember when the 5960P was first launched and I fell deeply in love. Way out of my reach at the time. It's a true grail to me 😊

Same here for me. [nt]

The 5960 is a keeper. It's an outstanding watch with a great combination of complications and works perfect as a daily companion

With the first automatic in-house chronograph movement it's a milestone for PP. I own a 3970 as well but my 5960 gets lot more wrist time. Love it! ...

Very cool picture! [nt]

Indeed 👌🏻 [nt]

Stunning shot of yours, thanks Watchlover42!

I have to agree with you 😉

It is indeed 👍🏻 [nt]

The 5270 is clearly in a different league for the reasons you mention, but I think a similar choice should also depend -- quite heavily -- on which pieces you'd be "losing" in the trade...

I also find the 5960 to be more versatile, while the 5270 is pure elegance. It would be a top piece to wear on certain occasions, but there are fewer of those occasions. Which other Pateks (if any) would you let go along with the 5960? These are very pers...

You're totally right Fab, the decision is heavily dependent on the pieces that would have to go

That's my main "problem". I used to be an one watch man, and would love to remain like that, but after many years loving watches it's not possible anymore 😜 Even though I'll always want a 5270/5970, it's not powerful enough to make me forget my other watc...

Cheers 🥂 😅 [nt]

I'd keep the 5960P. I do like it a lot!

The 5270s are fantastic, as are the 5970s. But the 5960P is definitely worth keeping!

I feel the same for the moment 👍🏻

Thanks Patrick!

Really depending on your environment...

 By: patrick_y : April 12th, 2020-00:06
The 5270 is much more appropriate than a 5960 which is more "casual" of a watch. Let's say this analogy; 5270 for the suit (put in your favorite suit brand) and 5960P for those Brunello Cucinelli elegant casual moments. 5960P is definitely a weekend watch...

I fully agree with you

My daily environment is not very formal, office type but there's room for everything. My 5960P is at home 😊 I do believe I shouldn't let it go. Who knows? Maybe one day I can add a 5270 to the collection but keeping the others. Thanks Patrick!

Keep the 5960p.

To me, if a watch is hotter than other, it doesn't really matter. I buy what I like, and I much prefer underrated options, with less demand and therefore better for my wallet. Nobody around me knows anything about watches, so nobody will notice if I'm wea...

Yes understand only buy for you.

I guarantee that if a Nautilus was easy to buy at retail price you’d never see one on IG or here. Like it was 20 years ago. I would keep the 5960p as it sounds like it fits in much better with your life. The heft of the platinum is perfect and the proport...

I would definitey keep the 5960 P.

One of PP's best efforts over the last 20 years.

Keep the 5960p. It'll be easier to read the date as you get older and

Get older and you might not have to reach for the reading glasses . For me the grey dial has always been on my wish list since it came out. For me a keeper. Cheers S

Assuming it is impossible to get both, I would keep the 5960.

It is an incredibly versatile reference, and I suspect you will miss it to much if you ever let it go.

I guess you're right 😊

 By: 1WatchMan : April 12th, 2020-06:08
And to be honest, getting it was quite an achievement for me.

Keep it...

I know some find it strange but I prefer self winding watches. I’m probably to lazy 😂😂😂

You know what? Me too 😂😂😂

Not aesthetically, but from a practical point if view.
