Its your 1st patek, make it an event. If i were you, i'd go to geneva, to the Patek Salon, visit the museum, get impregnated from the Patek story, and get a memorable souvenir from your 1st patek purchase.
Geneva's price are good, you will get a little present, an extra strap, a 1st servicing for free, etc... little gesture that will sweeten the deal
P.S: your story about paying deposit is so common, it happens so often, i wonder how ppl still fall for it. Basically the dealer hooks you and then take his time for finding the best deal FOR HIM on the 2nd market.
