Depends if you are talking 5970p Salmon or 5970g Salmon.

The EC 5970p salmon with Sand blasted breguet numerals and hands is unique and the 5970g Salmon as mine from the London Saatchi exhibition is under 5.
As you may expect I prefer my 5970g version with the perfectly balanced dial as the original with white Chrono hand 5970 but the EC 5970p Salmon dial is stunning.
It is fairly clear that this dark sand blast feature was the inspiration behind the 5270p Salmon. I personally am not a fan of the dark use of hands and numerals. But I know there are many who are.
There are a few feature differences on the dial also.
Here is a picture of both. Hope this clarifies.
M.

For the pleasure of the eyes: Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 5970G.

 By: amanico : January 28th, 2020-14:12
Here is a picture from Christies: I reworked the picture to get this close up. The 5970 is for me one of the best perpetual calendar ever made by Patek. Even nicer for me than the elusive and legendary 5004 ( adding a Rattrapante ), if we consider the pro...

It is essentially 'American Typewriter...'

and it does seem a bit inappropriate for such a luxury timepiece. Also, it appears that the 'R' in APR is showing in the upper right side of the month window? If so, that is poor planning. I don't expect absolute perfection in all things, but at this pric...

Gosh....Can you imagine

5970 to be the same size as 2499??? That will drive me crazy and it will become a must buy piece. To be down right honest... I really love the look and feel of 5970G, even at 40mm, it wears small. What I find fault with is the image of the watch projected...

If only it is that simple...

3970 does not have the 'gray' dial feel like the 5970 or a desired look of the early 2499. It can somehow feel blah easily. 3970 with 5004 dial is awesome though but dealer is asking for ridiculous price. 5004 is absolutely beautiful and technically briil...

The 5970p all day long ....

I had owned this watch 3 times...

 By: CL : January 28th, 2020-14:51
Love it each time but part it each time too.... It is a very beautiful and lustful watch but leaves me cold intellectually or emotionally. I don't know why. I still lust for it but I know I will have the same feeling all over again after having the watch ...

To all. Be careful if you buy a winder for manual watches. My AD talked me into buying one, and my 5270 was overwound. Now needs service. I’m mad as hell. Hopefully he will cover the service bill. Escapement locked.

there is now a winder for mechanical watches.

I did enjoy wearing them for the few years...

 By: CL : January 29th, 2020-13:20
Maybe I wore them too often and starts to find fault with them. It is indeed a very handsome watch. The G dial is my most favourite, i was given a chance to buy the P in retail price but I'm not drawn to it at all. The G dial has everything I love and if ...

I keep reminding myself that...

 By: CL : January 30th, 2020-08:42
when I want to buy again...haha. Truth to be said, it is 40mm but it wears the same as Datograph because of the small dial.

Mmmhhh... this black dialled 5970P might be the ultimate PCC

I recently had the chance to see its younger brother in the metal. Top elegant piece, too, but I agree the 5970 is still a small step ahead. Best, Daniel ...

Agreed.

 By: mrds : January 28th, 2020-23:17
On the plus side, I find the chrono registers on the 5270 are more legible, without the leap year and 24h hands. But overall, the 5970 clearly wins.

Maybe, maybe... [nt]

I feel the 5970g is a gorgeous watch especially the salmon Personally I prefer the g to the p - coz the p has very subtly shrunken date numbers

Still one of my dream

and also 5004 is another charm to wish for

Absolutely. [nt]
