Extra-short or standard strap?

Aug 08, 2018,12:44 PM

I'm just about to order a new strap for my 5960P and it will be the matte gray alligator, square scales from the Patek catalogue. I haven't seen it in person, but I do believe that will match the watch perfectly. Now what I don't know is whether I should order standard length or extra-short. The AD doesn't help a lot, didn't even suggest bespoke option. Btw, I was told that special orders don't cost the same as standard anymore. I'm a bit picky with the bend on the ending of the long side of the strap (at 12 on Patek deployables), as I don't like it to be straight and prefer to keep it bent over close to the other piece of strap. Please, have a look at the fit of two of my watches on standard-length straps and tell me what you think, would you order extra-short or standard for the 5960? Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

I keep thinking about changing my 5056p strap to the short one. I kept the original one and itโ€™s really starting to annoy me over time. I am also thinking about any other strap o could use like rubber or NATO etc Kev

I went with the short option on my recent Patek straps.

My wrist is about 16cm, and the short one is nice for me. The standard is longer than I prefer. Hope that helps.

Thanks BMR!

My wrist is a hair over 17cm, so maybe I'm in between.

Thanks 5980!

Yes, I believe I'm somewhere in between. Thinking of ordering: - Standard length for the short side of the strap (at 6) to ensure the buckle is centred on the wrist, as in the pictures, which is very comfortable. - Short length for the long side of the st...

its always my problem

I have a small wrist (5.9inches) and I can't use standard straps. I always ordered short straps. they are ok but a bit long. I tried bespoke and it fits better but takes a long while. If you are in a hurry I think the short straps will do. Benz

Thanks Benz!

Fortunately I'm not in a hurry as the current strap is in pretty good shape and I love it. I just want a grey one to improve the versatility of my watch and try and find the perfect fit for my wrist. But is not easy at all, there is no way to do some test...

Short strap on tang buckle - higher risk of dropping

 By: GST : August 10th, 2018-17:30
As someone who used to prefer short straps on tang buckle, consider the higher risk of it slipping off the wrist and onto the floor while putting it on - shorter strap means less to grip while weaving it securely they the tang. No such issue with deployan...

Thanks for the piece of advice!

I see the possible consequences, sorry for that. Fortunately, mine is on deployant.

Very sorry to see your scar... Can I get you to participate...

The short piece of the strap, at 6, standard length to ensure the same position of the buckle. It's perfectly centred on my wrist and I'm pretty comfortable. The long one, at 12, short length to reduce the leftover portion passed the buckle when strapped....
