Very beautiful 3940R indeed. Although any perpetual dial needs to be busy, the 3940 is a quiet perpetual that is so classic. I'm also trying to find a classic rose gold (creme/off white/opaline dial) dress-type watch that will survive the fads/swings/preferences of years to come. 3940R is on my short list. Also the 5170R-001. Perhaps an understated Annual Calendar. For a classic dress watch I'm looking at the type of complications that Patek has made for a couple generations or more. Love the manual wind, also the thinner automatics. Nothing too chunky or nouveau that might look dated/period 15 years from now.
I think you absolutely nailed it with the two watch collection you share in this post. Congratulations on your fine taste Libor.
Best,
Robert

Someone didn't miss a workout this week! I wear my Rg Richard Lange with jeans/t-shirt once a week or so - but mostly out of necessity to keep it in rotation due to leaving the suits' life a few years ago. I have gotten used to it, but did feel a bit self...

Congrats!

It's not even unorthodox! It's just cool! And it's just a versatile watch!

In Ian Flemings books; James Bond wears a Rolex Submariner (not an Omega like the movies) with a Tuxedo. In real life, that seems strange, but in the books it works!

As a fellow 3940R owner, I approve.

In fact I more often mix watch and clothes style than wearing them as intended. It works great both ways. Love to wear a dress watch with jeans (as you do in perfect style) or a steel on a rubber strap sports watch or vintage Rollie with a tie. Itβ€˜s like ...

Beautiful 3940R!

May I ask, do you always set the date, year, moon, etc - each and every time you pick it up to wear it? I must admit, with my 5712 - I do not! ;-) but it doesn't bother me. Best, Robert

here is my subjective opinion- the patek rose gold is indeed something special. i looked for a long time at rolex rose gold which appears more copper in color, and lange rose gold which is more pinkish in color- both great colors and both great brands but...

Mike, do you ever feel the 3940 is small?

 By: Robert65 : October 7th, 2020-15:31
The 3940 appears to wear larger than a 36mm - not to mention the reference is a techno marvel/giant - however do you ever look down at your wrist and feel it's diameter is not right for you? I'm asking because as a 6'1" 190lb guy - I just want to ensure I...

Feels similar to 116520 Daytona which is perfect for me but maybe you can try one on locally ?

Excellent, thanks!

 By: Robert65 : October 8th, 2020-01:26
The 116520 is a 40mm case, but you're saying the dial face of the 3940 is similar size to the 116520. Got it, thanks. Very helpful! Best, Robert
