would *love* to see steel

If the 5212a had been exactly the same but with just time and date (and not handwritten bits obviously) i would buy in an instant.

I think the concern from a business standpoint is that once you introduce steel, you cannibalize your precious metal turnover.  But the "bread and butter" 5296 were trading new at 23K by the end of the model production though so perhaps you can list at $25K and still maintain margins overall.

I hope they aren't a design hodge podge like the 5172g (art deco case, serif font and contemporary styling)

Does anyone want to participate in some Basel 2020 Patek Calatrava speculation?

Facts 1/ We know from the Autumn 2019 Patek Magazine that new Calatravas are coming. 2/There is the new movement 26-330 3/It is meant to appeal to "younger" buyers Speculation 1/It seems unlikely there will be a steel time-and-date-only model calatrava? 2...

Would like to see 37-39mm steel and platinum (in addition to the usual golds)...

...with a new ultra-thin micro rotor automatic movement. Date and no date versions. Unusual dial options would be a plus...maybe not something esoteric like meteor, but something out of the ordinary.

A new movement or based on 240? [nt]

I am a fan of the 240...

but it would be nice to see a totally new, thin auto and manual movement, perhaps sized up a bit.

One thing is certain...

If it’s something nice, the only way to get it is though a gray dealer at 50% premium.

I hope that only continues to apply to sports models medium term

The weekly calendar is going down while the 5168g-010 is as strong as ever!

I think it will be completely against the PP DNA in order

To resucitate the dress watch through a younger buyer. Looking like ressence perhaps. Very minimalist. Perhaps extra complication like days of the week or off centred sub dials

Interesting! [nt]

From sketch to production might be 3-5 years, do you think?

Where were we 3-5 years ago? I don’t follow closely enough or am not familiar enough with the catalogue to really have any meaningful thoughts but what’s the chance of more faux patina or vintage inspired watches? That to me seems more likely than Patek t...

In the past models aimed at "younger" buyers had been stainless steel (5960A, 5990A, 5522A)

Therefore I think it is reasonable to assume we get new stainless steel Calatravas. I also think dial colours would be beyond opaline, perhaps a blue dial.

Almost certainly the size will be 40mm or above.

A move to more casual makes sense as well.

Here's what I think....

New, hobnail bezel in 39mm with new, stop-seconds movement. 6006G with blue dial (or, even better, 6006R with rose dial). 39mm replacement to 5296 with new movement. Dare I venture? 5976/1A (44mm). 5168A and 5168/1A Updated replacement to 5067. New, large...
