With regards to the fear of potential loss upon resale, I can tell you it doesn't bother me that much. I recently lost a similar amount on selling a silly sports car (unfortunately another of my expensive habits) that I owned for less than 8 months. Obviously I don't feel good about that but I did get utility out of the car and I learned my lesson with that particular brand - buy preowned and be patient! This same lesson applies to watches, luckily I learned that one a while ago and always look to the secondary market first.
