Always threatening to upend civilisation but never quite does
Comets - the destroyer of dinosaurs
Comets - essentially snowballs in space on fire
But here is a different one
The patek ref 3710
Initially launched in 1998 and phased out in 2005 makes it a small number the ref 3710 is a unique beast in the weird and whacky world of nautilus watches
Size is 42 mm 8 mm thick
Complications include second hand and power reserve not seen in ref3700
Dial is def different with white gold Roman numeral hour markers which puts off some collectors I must say before I saw this watch in real life I did not like and certainly never considered buying one But my dealer showed me this watch and it is definitely intriguing to say the least I immediately warmed to the strange dial design The quirky comet added charm to the plain index dial of the ref 3700. It was a sports watch with a “ cocktail “ dial What kind of animal was this ? The platypus of the watch world !
The thinness of the watch together with a two tone brushed stainless steel bracelet makes this a perfect everyday watch Large power reserve and accuracy add to its durability and usefulness
The Power reserve also known as the comet sets it aside from other early nautilus IZR ( indication de zone remontage )
Both the silver disc and the hand pirouette around each other with the hand slowly moving down or up the scale as the movement is discharged or wound
Movement is auto cal 330 sc beats at 21 600bpm
48 hour power reserve
Movement has gyromax free spring balance
Water resistant to 120 m
And the collection goes in a totally different direction
