But with same subdial, if it was originally issued like this to show the day/night indicator. You’ll have to check if they will change it to the new series subdial or not before sending it for a service. [nt]

3940J subdial discoloration

 By: @Patek_Ambassador : December 2nd, 2019-21:04
I am looking at a 3940J that is priced approximately $6K below market value and noticed day of the week subdial at 9 o’clock has some severe discoloration. What are your thoughts on this? Is it a deal breaker? Because it is priced so low, I could easily s...

That color feature is intentional

There’s a thread about this (“information about the 3940) that was active earlier today. Happy hunting!

...the more important question you need to ask yourself and answer it honestly: are you sure you will be happy wearing a 36mm watch? I do have small wrists and the answer is still a clear "no". For me, the sweet spot is somewhere between 38 and 42mm. If y...

I do agree. I just bought a 5905P that is 42mm and arriving on Wednesday (pics forthcoming!) so I do feel the 3940 at 36mm will just feel too small. My 5130R world time at 39mm even feels small as I'm used to wearing my 41mm Royal Oak. That said I did

For me 36 mm is just too small. Sold my 36 mm pieces a number of years ago. Despite all my efforts I was never comfortable with the size. . My sweet spot is 38-41 mm as well. I love my 38mm annual calendar. And my 41 mm Perpetual Chronograph.

Intentional

You’re telling us that this discoloration in one sundial only is intentional?

Weird

That must be the weirdest day night indicator I’ve ever seen

Agree

That's probably why they changed it for the second series. Thomas

If you like it and the price is right I say....

...get it. Then send it in to PP for service. Their restoration department is without peer in my opinion. It will look brand new when you get it back.
