If my collection, I think of the 5960p as having the most “metal” wrist presence - maybe the most wrist presence period. It’s just a pronounced watch given the thickness.
By contrast, while my 5146g could sound similar on paper if I showed close up pictures of the individual components (white metal, dark gray dial, on leather strap), it’s a much more low profile watch and almost feels dare I say petite.
My 5170p also wears very thin which I think is because of 1) the flat sides of the case (non sloped bezel) and 2) given the large dial is actually “metal-light” I find. Much more dial than metal in other words
And finally my 5205g is probably the most in the middle - more metal (with the sloped bezel), but not as thick or big as the 5960p.
I’m wondering where the 5970 stacks up in this “metal” presence category. I’ve never been able to try one in person and while there are tons of close up wrist shots (and a few videos), I just can’t tell how it really wears. Maybe if I saw a 5970, 5960, 5205, 5146 etc all on someone’s wrist from a 3rd party point of view (at a small distance away) I’d be able to tell better, but no such luck so far
The 5970 lugs look wide and long in photos, but I think they’re only 46mm lug to lug which is I think more compact than even a 5205 (which has longer lugs).
The 5970 looks almost like a flat or compact rectangle in some wrist shots. Similar to the profile of my 5170 (even tho it doesn’t have a sloping bezel). By contrast the bezels on 5960 and 5205 seem to really slope angularly down such that the watches seem more curvy than they do flat or compact. Hope that made sense
Would love any input. Thanks!
