any validity to the runout that Patek will revamp the Nautilus?

So I was discussing Patek in Bahrain with a fellow enthusiasts and Sterns insistence on reducing steel Patek across the board as part of the brands strategy to remain under 33% steel production, and the subject of the Nautilus becoming dated came up. Sure it’s a classic and will continue to attract buyers no doubt but as my recent two Vacheron overseas experiences can attest the Nautilus feels last gen, and not in a good way. I was obsessed with getting the PC Nautilus but not more keen in the OS Skeleton PC for a number of reasons, not least of which is modern feauturss such as the strap change system and updated styling, AP are not gearing up and already coming up with their own major updates and I have heard confirmed next year will be big for the Royal Oak.

Could Patek be readying a new generation of the Nautilus with up to date features? Sure we have seen the new bracelet lock upgrade but that was fairly minor compared to the other members of the horology trinity.

My response was that Patek always did minor changes over a long time, and unlikely to be reactive. But with the recent delve into green and discontinuation of the 5711 I am starting to think he might be in to something. Perhaps a 1mm larger case with rethought proportions and ergonomics and an updated strap and bracelet system?

This is all speculation, but would be interesting to hear the group think on this

I know that I personally have been a Patek aficionado for many years, and absolutely enamored with my 5980 for 12 years and well as my Nautilus Annual Calendar, but since venturing out to Vacheron over the last three years and now delving into AP I do feel that Patek offer a more refined albeit dated experience. It would pull me back in if conservative innovation that would enhance the experience without impacting the character was introduced as well as slightly larger cases to accompany modern tastes ( at least mine)

Although we don’t know what the new version would look like, I thought this was clearly stated by Patek themselves that they were discontinuing that model and coming out with a new one

I don’t think they would do this only for some small improvements/change to the watch IMO…I guess we will know next year!
