I am with you, from your and mine (collector’s) point of view

I think that a brand like Patek needs to balance between creating watches for collectors, and watches for the brand.

Ultimately the finesse and also the value of a simple Calatrava is supported in part by these „impossible“ complicated pieces. If PP had over the past 200 years only created fine but simple pieces, they wouldn’t be the brand they are. In that sense, an excuisite split-second perpetual minute repeater or whatever kind of beast is coming out now is good not only for the happy very few that actually get one, but also for us mere mortals.

And of course, there’s always the visual pleasure...

Cheers,
Daniel

95 Jewels?!?

 By: mrds : November 3rd, 2020-09:50
I was just checking the Patek announcement for the new release coming up on Nov 10. There are hints as to what will come, lots of them on music and chiming things. So far so good. What I find REALLY intriguing is a short video sequence from the movement m...

Obviously lots of jewels alone don’t make a great watch

I fully agree on this. My thiught was that PP normally doesn’t go for cheap tricks and that in my view something really complicated will be revealed. I‘m curious. Daniel

Where is the slide lever I ask myself?

Csse back looks really nice.

Quite honestly...

... I would have hoped for an ‘affordable’ (relatively speaking) novelty, way more than a technical marvel at hundreds of thousands of CHF. In other words, give us something new in the Complications and Calatrava families!

I can relate

Often times, the simplest things are the best in life. And it’s not unusual that the simple pieces are also the hardest ones to get right. Thanks, Ed, for chiming in. Daniel

When I asked my dealer he replied „if you are patient and want to spend more than 1M CHF you might get one“.

I think that says it all. I’m expecting a new masterpiece from the highest complication level. So we need to continue waiting for new Calatravas...

Wow...

So it’s more than just a MR then... a new masterpiece sounds exciting... like something really new

Looking forward to the surprise

At this price point it should be no less than a firework of creativity.

Well, patience never has been my strong point

they made it so expensive that I definitely don’t need to contemplate 🤔

Full balance bridge

I noticed a full balance bridge on the movement, which is first for Patek, as they used hook bridge in the past.
