First of all, a warm welcome to our forum, and congrats on choosing a beautiful Patek for your next purchase!

I'm not sure where these pictures come from, but if they are taken from different sources on the net, the dial color might look different for a number of reasons. While I have never looked into the history of the 5712R, I believe the only version that has been produced so far for this specific reference is the -001, which is also the one available in the current catalog. Hence I assume there have been no significant changes to the color over the years. But let's see if some other friend/owner on this forum may have any other information for you.

Hope this helps, and please keep us posted once you acquire this beautiful Nautilus! ;-) Cheers.

I’m currently going through the process of buying a new watch. I had thought of the AP Royal Oak Chrono but I have finally decided to by the PP Nautlius 5712R. I will be buying this watch second hand, my question is if there have been changes to the model...

Hmm a brown dial

I've never seen a brown dial until now but other sources on the Internet seem to indicate it's real and factory. My guess is that the brown dial is a a lot more rare than the common grey dial. The brown dial seems to work better with the yellow gold IMO.

Welcome to our community, Ollie.

As mentioned by Fab, there is only one version, 5712R-001, since its debut in 2006. It has a degraded brown colour dial (darker colour in periphery) all along. The variation of dial colour in your two photos is most likely due to different ambient lightin...

Thanks!

Many thanks for your feedback. Really appreciate you comments and thoughts! It seems to be there hasn’t been a change since 2006, so I can focus on the condition of the pieces! I will let you know once I have made the purchase - hopefully this week! Cheer...

Lovely piece.

Have you tried reaching out to an AD, a rose gold strap Nautilus might just be available in an acceptable wait time?

I am also not aware of significant changes to the dial colour and as mentioned above the dial colour may look different due to a number of reasons.

In 2019 Patek made a subtle change to the dials of all variants of 5712. Now the dials of all variants of 5712 have larger dots at 25 and 35 positions which makes it bit easier to read time in the sub dial region.

Got the watch!
