I agree with you that it is a fantastic watch with extreme versatility. At the moment, I prefer wearing mine more casually.

A favorite of mine :the 5170 G.

This reference, when released, was not really embraced by the PP community. Maybe it was the unforgotten ,maybe the launch in the not so popular yellow gold or maybe the (too)simple dial. For me all this changed with the release of the white gold model wit...

My all time favorite.

This watch gave me countless sleepless nights...

Truly forgotten beauty

I think true Patek collectors went for the 5070's and the 5170 was looked over during the Nautilus craze.

I can't imagine why, this watch is best

I agree. [nt]

Indeed it is the unloved PP chrono :(

 By: WH_ : May 25th, 2020-07:44
the 5070 is the love child of the PP community overall, and also here in WPS. I personally LOVE the 5170 white metal with black and white dials. It is so elegant, less cluttered, with a much more balanced case, and off-center subdials. It is really beauti...

I feel as you do.

Especially with a smaller wrist, the 5170 would be preferable.

Cool PP,

Thanks! [nt]

It is a great watch

I would also add any watch can be worn with jeans. Part of the mystique.

I Love the silver dial 5170g and got one myself.

Never understood why people wanted the 5070. Usually Patek lovers hate on oversized watches with movement sizes not matching the case size, but Not with the 5070 ? Just because of scarcity? I don't think it's beautiful and I've got other watches around th...

Great photos of a lovely watch!

I saw the 5170G for the first time in 2013 at the Patek show in Munich on the wrist of my dinner table neighbour. Fortunately, I had the chance to try it on and immediately fell in love. It took me one year until I could call this watch my own and ever si...

Gorgeous chronograph

The 5710G has always been one of my favourite in terms of look and wearability. The variant you own and the black dial variant are my favourite offerings from Patek alongside the 5170P!

I am already on the bandwagon!

I have one and love it!

Not forgotten...just not as popular...

...I think because no leaf hands and the Pulsation scale, which is fairly anachronistic these days (although some would like it just because of that)... I would buy a 5170J if it had leaf hands, scale or not, but no such thing exists and I'm not Eric Clap...

Not a PP guy because of current means but this is absolutely stunning...

If I were to want a PP it might be this one and probably my favorite PP that has been shared on this forum! Congratulations and feel free to share more wonderful photos from time to time so some of can keep dreaming! -D-

I fully agree with you

The 5170 with it's purity and nice proportions is a stunning watch. I much prefer this reference over the 5070 and wear it with pride and joy. Beside my Datograph the best modern chrono out there ...

very nice!

For some stupid reason i always feel as though I'm not supposed to like this reference - but i just can't help myself!

Awesome

Probably my favorite (realistic) reference. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you.

I have a few more ideas, as well, but it’s fairly easy with such a versatile piece.

Thank you, my friend.

I want to also try it on an olive one. Maybe a darker blue and a burgundy, as well. There’s just a ton of versatility here that allows the personality of the watch come out in a way that it doesn’t on the stock strap, in my opinion.

...wonderful 5170G ! Hope you enjoy it often !

5170G-001 is a very beautiful watch.

Unfortunately this watch was not well received by the collectors and I have seen they are still available at ADs.

Beautiful photos, beautiful watch

 By: jmpTT : May 27th, 2020-20:14
The 5170G should be far more popular than it is, particularly since it can be worn with jeans. If it was cased in steel, the demand would be aggressive.

My favorite pp

I nearly went with one of these. Easily my favorite PP for the $. Lots of horological bang for buck.

Absolutely beautiful reference

Not too busy yet *Lots of horological bang for the buck* is accurate! This watch can be worn with the full spectrum of informal-formal occasions.

Love the 5170

I have had my 5170g for a number of years and absolutely love the simplicity of it, here it is with a Berluti styled strap ...
