You will NEVER go wrong with a 3970!
I have owned one for years and I appreciate the 3970 more today than when I got it. To me that watch is a perfect timepiece. I like the size, the manually -wound movement and the functionality of the watch overall.There is nothing ostentatious about the 3970. For me that is the appeal. It’s virtue lies in its understated classical size. Modern watches are “big”just for the sake of being “big”.It’s a fashion mandate. The 3970 is all about restraint and maturity as well as amazing craftsmanship. Congratulations! You are going to enjoy that

It was actually a very good trade, Mike.
But to avoid misunderstanding, it was not one for one. Of course I paid some money up but considering the unmolested condition and the completeness of the full set this was fair enough.

Of course you had to pay a premium, I would not expect that a 3970 can be traded with a 16520 Patrizzi even if it is the nicest one on earth 😉

The size is not perfect for my wrist but I also love my Rolex 6234 which has the same size.
I’m a big fan of the 16520, although not so interested by the Patrizzi.
I am a huge fan of the 3970. A perfect watch in many ways, and one I’ve looked at trying to acquire several times over the last 4-5 years. You did well, this was a very good exchange.
I’ve seen quite a lot 3970 lately but it’s pretty hard to find a really perfect/very good watch
and the complete package around it. E.g., many watches advertised by dealers as complete or full set do not have the correct box with the correction pin holder but a box for a model without pin.
