collectability.com Just an outstanding read!

With all due respect...

Hasn’t PP been producing 50,000 watches a year for the past ten years or more? That’s a Christie’s write up. Marketing copy? No doubt PP watches maintain great resale value, but if that’s not someone’s main concern when buying a watch? How about after-sal...

The 1M estimate is most certainly accurate. I don’t know how you came up with the 50k figure, but when I started getting seriously interested in the brand some 5 years ago...

They told me they were making around 38k watches a year. There has been one significant increase since, because of the construction of the new building, which sets the current production in the low 60k (with a projected 1 to 2% annual growth going forward...

Sure...

In 2007 annual production was around 38 000.

The following article confirms it. In 2012 Thierry mentioned production was around 45 000 In 2016 it was mentioned production was around 60 000

Thanks for sharing these links. I will definitely check with Patek -- both the 2007 and 2012 data would be pretty much what I had *only* after excluding the 10k to 12k quartz models, which was not my recollection.

The 2016 information seems more in line, but I want to be as accurate as possible in the numbers I give (and receive!), so I'll try to verify what you sent me. In case I made a mistake (i.e., my numbers did not included quartz models while I said they did...

+/- 60'000 ( by memory)

Dear Fabr, If i'm not mistaken I recall Thierry Stern quoting 60'000 pieces a year in an interview with Wei Koh, at Baselworld 2019. Also in Patek's latest magazine in an article written by Nicolas Foulkes I think that he talked about producing around 60'...

The 50k number is very recent

I doubt up till 1980s they were making more than 5000 watches per year, times were different and their offering as well.

I had read that also.

The Patek he talks about is not in my mind the Patek most of us, and 99% of their customers, talk about and buy. Rare handcrafts, high complications yes, sign me up (and help me pay for it). The same for many vintage pieces. But that’s a small small piece...

Yes, a very good aticle.
