Totally agree

Never liked any of the elite sport watches personally. I get real tool watches for sports/diving. Add in the laughable prices for the Nautilus considering what you are getting. Makes me dislike it even more.

As hard as I try

 By: Thomas_3 : July 28th, 2021-16:53
and as wildly popular as they are I just can not bring myself to like the Patek Phillippe Nautilus. I admit to being in the minority on this, hell, I may be the only anti-Nautilus guy on the planet. Are they nice watches, absolutely, no doubt and without ...

YES!!!, the Aquanaut over the Nautilus any day for me.

 By: Thomas_3 : July 28th, 2021-17:06
Thanks, nice to see I am not alone in this.

Agree with you on that my friend.

 By: Watchonthewrists : July 29th, 2021-10:49
Never been a big fan of this watch .

I don't hate the Nautilus,

 By: Geo : July 28th, 2021-17:10
but watches like the Aquanaut and especially the Octo Finissimo, appeal much more to me. And that has nothing to do with the value of the Nautilus.

No Nautilus For Me.

 By: baufoam : July 28th, 2021-17:16
Happy to say, if I REALLY wanted a Nautilus, , I could get one. I have just never been attracted to that watch. I have a couple of Aquanauts ( one in gold, one in steel) and I love them! They are minimalist , wonderful watches. Having said that, I can cer...

Was never a big fan until...

 By: mdg : July 28th, 2021-17:28
...I tried on my friend's perpetual. The weight of it surprised me (in a good way), and the dial was just super-clean. That's the only one I'd save my pennies for.

pplater initiated an identical conversation many years ago . . .

 By: Dr No : July 28th, 2021-17:39
. . . and my reply then holds today. The shape of the Nautilus elicits a circular form from a fundamentally square shape. Both circles and squares (rarely) are found in nature, but I can't think of any natural linear objects that veer towards roundness. I...

Interesting views

 By: afaleh : July 28th, 2021-21:37
Well thought out, deserves contemplating

I don‘t dislike the Nautilus, but I also prefer others, e.g. Royal Oak, Aquanaut or Octo Finissimo

 By: nafetS : July 28th, 2021-18:18
Tried on the 5712 and 5726 in steel when they were still readily available, but they didn‘t make my heart beat faster. I fell immediately for the 15202 on the other hand.

This is my first PP and only Nautilus I have…

 By: Clueless_Collector : July 28th, 2021-18:19
But I have to say it is a very well built and nice watch. Still loving it and wearing it today. Do I wish for more? Of course but the game is so different now. My only wish is to have one more, the 5740/1G and I can RIP 😂 ...

You are not alone

 By: Poky : July 28th, 2021-18:43
I bet even some of the people that pay the crazy prices are not so thrilled about it but they buy it because everyone else wants one.

I hate the nautilus too. It is an ugly watch. The aquanaut? Even uglier.

 By: Credor : July 28th, 2021-19:26
You don't need to try so much to like it. The shape of the dial, bezel and crystal is extremely ugly.

LOL!

By: India Whiskey Charlie : July 28th, 2021-19:36

It is my honest opinion.

 By: Credor : July 28th, 2021-19:42
I don't laugh at your opinions. I prefer the design of the royal oak. I hate that the nautilus shape is a rounded octagon that still has corners. Not a shape that is easy to look at for me.

All good :)

 By: Credor : July 29th, 2021-18:56
Also the bezel to dial proportion is off to my eyes. Dial looks too small compared to the bezel. I just really dislike this watch.

So how do you really feel about it.

Or this one winking back 😉..

 By: Cpt Scarlet : July 28th, 2021-20:37
...

Let me as usual be honest and direct: there are FAR fewer people than you would imagine who REALLY love the Nautilus, and many of them bought it BEFORE Instagram decided that everyone has to have it...

 By: FabR : July 28th, 2021-19:42
While there are obviously LOTS of genuine collectors, as you can see on this very site, many of the folks who "chase" a Nautilus today ("seek" probably conveys the correct affection in English) remind me of this hilarious meme circulated right after the l...

I love them

 By: PhinneyWood : July 28th, 2021-20:28
...

Not a nautilus fan either. More of a Royal oak guy. Haven’t handled anything but a 5712, and it left me cold after wearing it for a couple of weeks.

 By: Lankysudanese : July 28th, 2021-21:10
But such are matters of the heart. Objectively-speaking, the bracelet-closing mechanism and non-hacking movement left me un-impressed.

Well you are in the same boat as Stern

 By: afaleh : July 28th, 2021-21:35
He believes the Nautilus is the least attractive watch under his charge. I absolutely adore my 5980, to each his own

I love the nautilus... especially my 5712

 By: @lberti : July 28th, 2021-21:51
On the second picture, i d like to add the most important sign in switzerland 😉 ...

WOW - I would have never thought that

 By: penfriend : July 28th, 2021-22:47
someone dares to place such a statement on the Nautilus on WPS. I am in the same boat - It's a watch that simply does not appeal at all to me. Aquanaut yes but not the Nautilus. Why? Hard so say, someone in this thread said it is ugly. I would not go that...

Someone dared to place that statement on WPS, and then your moderator even moved it from HoMe to the Patek forum -- I can already envision First Amendment scholars building entire careers out of this! ;-))

I earned it with linear structural relationship modeling in strategic situations

 By: penfriend : July 29th, 2021-12:07
wonder if that helps.... but Strategy is actually my denomination - no real fit we could maybe model and analyze the impact of our discussion on market prices ;-)))

Hehe 😂

 By: FRAMII : July 29th, 2021-11:50
Nice watch but its MR money and I know what my choice would be.

ROFL!

 By: amanico : July 30th, 2021-04:33

;-))

 By: FabR : July 30th, 2021-10:23

First, the “wildly popular” is a distraction and that has little to do with the merits of the watch.

 By: Jay (Eire) : July 28th, 2021-22:54
Before all this noise of the last few years I would say it’s always been a watch appreciated by collectors and by those drawn to enduring design. Like the Royal Oak, it’s a classic. I also think that until you have one on the wrist it’s hard to truly appr...

I am in total agreement bill.

By: Costa (aka Connie) : July 29th, 2021-11:20
I like the Aquanaut And would like to get one someday. But I’m not going to pay over MSRP. Which means I probably will never get one.

Does nothing for me

I don’t get the hype. You are not alone.

Not sure I get why you made this post...

 By: JBP99P : July 29th, 2021-10:16
to antagonise?, is it out of jealousy, have you even handled a 5711? Having had a quick look through some of your posts on the forum, most of the stuff I wouldn't touch with a bargepole!

Definitely not to antagonize,

 By: Thomas_3 : July 29th, 2021-19:48
just shared an opinion and apparently others have the same opinion. I am just one of a select few who doesn't care for the Nautilus. Actually I feel the same about the Royal Oak, and the G-P Laureato. Am I missing out on some fine watches, yes, but so far...

To each his own ! Your comment on the integrated bracelet is

 By: GLau : July 29th, 2021-19:11
well taken. Other brands also have watches this feature. Why do you not like integrated bracelet on 5711 ?

Its not just the 5711,

 By: Thomas_3 : July 29th, 2021-19:43
it is integrated bracelets in general. Just something I simply don't care for on any watch. For me to buy a watch with an integrated bracelet there would have to be something really special about the watch. So far I haven't come across anything that speci...

Totally agree

Of course it's overrated...

 By: Mostel : July 30th, 2021-07:20
Esp the green... OMG... but no one cares... if the bracelet is flimsy and the movement pedestrian... Or that the RO smashes it on every level... NO. One. Cares... (but I have noticed the RO achieving equal and even beyond equal aftermarket... to my astoni...

So you’re a D calls you…

 By: Jace : July 31st, 2021-22:24
Do you want a 5711 I have one for you… What are you going to do? If you’re honest with yourself you’re going to get your ass in your car drive down there and pick it up pronto thanking the A.D. all the way along.

I remember when they were first releaed

 By: enjoythemusic : August 1st, 2021-00:07
There wasn't much demand for them. Used were about $9000 to $10,000, the quartz was $5,000 pre-owned. The Aqua resonated with me more and many years ago had one for me and the smaller matching mechanical for my Muse (now wife). Got bored, plus they are a ...

It’s difficult to judge without data but I’m going to guess that you’re not in a minority who are non-plussed by the appeal of this watch.

 By: Rosneathian : August 5th, 2021-08:50
There are some who have gone further and call it “fugly,” which I’ve seen said and echoed quite often over the years. For my part I can’t even be moved to have strong feelings about it. I just find it unremarkable. I’ve likened it to a watch a moderately ...

I agree.

 By: DDM : August 8th, 2021-09:58
I’ve never understood Nautilus fever. To my eyes they just look a little, well, boring frankly. Although better than the Royal Oak which is downright ugly. I can think of countless watches I’d prefer to have for Nautilus money at RRP, and countless superc...

Good to hear your comments.

I hear what you say.

 By: DDM : August 8th, 2021-10:49
However, the reason I dislike the RO is exactly because I find it ugly. I’m not sure that’s a discourteous opinion. It’s very subjective. I accept that some of my watch choices would be considered ugly or undesirable by many others, and that’s fine. I’d n...

Well understood that your intention was not offend anyone. However

 By: GLau : August 8th, 2021-11:13
using words such as “ugly” is not friendly for our forum. A member can be cordial and say a watch is unattractive or unsuitable for his/her taste.

All noted.

 By: DDM : August 8th, 2021-12:03
You might wish to point this out to Credor who used “ugly”, “even uglier” and “extremely ugly”, unchallenged and in the interest of consistency 😉 However I shall try to temper my views in future so as not to inadvertently offend.

Yes, Credor was also unfriendly. Fab and I

By: India Whiskey Charlie : August 8th, 2021-16:31
Is it something else you are referring to? Last I checked, the word "ugly" is in the dictionary and is not labeled as offensive, insulting or vulgar. I don't see how someone using the word ugly can be labelled as unfriendly. Just my opinion, of course.
