Date and day jump issues with my newly acquired 5212...

 By: Musigny82 : April 19th, 2021-08:44
As some of you may know, I acquired a 5212 from my AD few days ago. Handsome lovely watch of course! Yet to my surprise, I noticed that the date window jumps at around 11:53pm while the day indicator jumps at 1:22am. I wondering if any 5212 owners at WPS ...

I own a 5212A

The date moves forward just before mid night. The day and week indicators don't "jump" and they advance semi - instantaneously is discreet steps. This is to avoid energy consumption peaks. The day indicator of my watch start to move forward around 00:30 a...

Thank you for your response!!!

Sorry I shouldn’t used the word “jump”. So the fact that the day indicator finishes its task at around 1:30am maybe the norm? I’m a bit surprised that it takes it so long to get the job done though. Once again thanks for your input!

It has to rotate the day of week hand precisely 51.428571428571429 degrees!

And the week of the year hand only 6.792452830188679 degrees! I suspect it takes the movement a long time to calculate the rotation or measure the distance those hands are traveling... 😉 Cazalea

You have to love the finishing on the movement's internal protractor.

All black polished! Though I imagine the movement has trouble reading it at the wrong angle.

Patek doesn’t do instantaneous date changes

Working as intended Title fixed

They do instantaneous perpetual calendars

5208, 5207 and 6300 have instantaneous perpetual calendars.

My 5212 stopped working 3 months ago!

I received mine in December 2019 (one of the first ones). It has been returned to Geneva and I too am disappointed. Your issue does not surprise me., Having a watch with 5 needles originating from the middle was perhaps not the best idea.

This new caliber is also in the Nautilus 5711 since 2019 so

I would have thought that any issues should have been ironed out during the testing stage.

So true!
