Mechanical reason 3rd party strap can't be installed on 5712/1A?

 By: Robert65 : August 19th, 2020-03:29
Various strap vendors offer calf, croc, rubber, etc replacement straps for stainless steel bracelets (eg Rolex Daytona stainless steel), however I can't find a vendor that makes a strap for the Patek 5712/1A. I know the 5712/1A bracelet is beautiful howev...

Why would you want to change perfection?

Jk, but because of its thinness it’s supremely comfortable to wear.

Appreciate your response

however was seeking a mechanical reason it can't be done. Tried to explain that "I know the 5712/1A bracelet is beautiful however..." Best, Robert

Hi, Robert, originally I thought the rubber B strap will fit, but later realise it's only for the 5712G or R originally fit with leather strap.

Seems that there is no 3rd party replacement straps for all nautiluses with metallic bracelets, as the removal links are all located near the clasp instead off the case. You may remove the bracelet all together at the lugs (with open holes), but the "tong...

Many thanks for you postulation!

That mechanical explanation is quite plausible, appreciate that you took the time to respond. Best, Robert

Although PP wouldn't sell it me, was hoping there were respected 3rd party strap makers

That could engineer a mechanically sound/secure strap for the Patek 5712/1A. I understand the 5712 in gold (R, G) cases is also 8.52mm thick - yet those gold cases feature tasteful leather straps - so I was wondering if the spring bar mechanism in those g...

Actually you excited my curiosity, I was pretty sure that the strap and bracelet would somehow be compatible and it seems it's not the case...

I googled "Patek Nautilus Strap" and found a few results of which a specific brand called RubberB, and they advertise an after market rubber strap but it is clearly mentioned that it is not compatible with the bracelet versions (neither SS nor gold !), wh...

Thanks Montres1 - excellent points all.

When the COVID clears and I get back to the AD I will certainly ask. Best, Robert

Your simply answer is likely 100% sound!

I agree - after much research

The stainless steel case doesn't feature the more robust attachment apparatus of the gold cases. Best, Robert
