So the new cylinder has an app connecting to it.
That is very cool. Meaning you can probably also monitor the battery levels. The big and beautiful looking watch winder doesn’t have any of that. Can you imagine when the batteries are running out and it start beeping the alert sound in the bank vault?
And no variable speed. Just CW and CCW setting.
THANKS

PP watch winder full size-is this good for the movement or not? What is your take?

When picking up the 5320g, we chose the full size winder that is still available from the AD over the more practical cylinder type PP winder which was also an option. We were told the full size one has been discontinued. Not sure if they are discontinuing...

Great PC ! Huge congratulations ! I would

use a watch winder to keep up the PC functions

Thanks man- yes I tend to agree. It sort of comes with the PC territory that it should run all the time.

Not too difficult to set it, but it all has to be in the right order. Yeah a winder feels like the right thing for a PC.

How i do it

I confess, i put a part of my collection on a winder. Why? I dislike to adjust the time over and over. So, i do not pull out a crown, i put a watch on my winder. Secure. I check if the watch have enough grip in the winder. Next. When i wear a watch, the r...

Thanks for the advice Weems-No I don't think it damages the movement-just wanted to see if there were other views on the matter

It would also be wierd to have to set it every time it had a break

Sorry for the delay in showing pics of the watch winder BTW-one thing it lacks is variable speed/number of cycles pr. 24 hours-which I think most winders have-It's probably just sticking to a Patek standard-4 round pr. minute and 840 revolutions pr. 24 ho...

Winder is fine. I recommend the cylinder winder because it's completely vertical, so no lateral stress on the winding stem.

While the big box is nice, the smaller one in the cylinder holds the watch at a vertical angle. This allows the rotor to hang freely without any lateral stress. While of course, the parts are engineered to accommodate the gold winding rotor's weight at an...

Cool. Point taken. You might just be right.I’ll speak to a watchmaker to see what he says. But I can already hear his answer as I am writing this: don’t be bothered either way😂

So as it boils down to so many discussion here on this forum the answer I think is “have both”. The box for when you wear it often and store it at home and the vertical cylinder one for the bank storage when storing it for longer periods. ...

I think it really depends on how you store, wear and use your watches in your daily life ...

I like the full sized winder because its very elegant and is great for leaving on the table top for quick and regular access. The new cylinder winder is more portable and is also safe friendly. So which one to chose boils down to how you wish to store, we...

Most welcome. Always happy to share!

Yes the new PP winder app allows you to monitor the battery level via the app and multiple winders at the same time too. Its also got 4 AA batteries, so it should last longer and has a useful function wherein only if you put it horizontal does the winder ...

I used to be an advocate for winders and have about a dozen of them in various sizes as well as a GIANT closet sized one, got the idea from my buddy Jim in Cali...

I have used them for years but recently I have come to the conclusion it really isn't needed as much as I had thought. As long as you wind your watches once in a while (once per week or 2 weeks) the watches should be fine since most all modern watched use...
